Next stop: Indonesia

There was no official announcement, but judging by the social media posts (here and here), Deep Purple had a writing session in Nashville, slotted between the short US tour and the upcoming visit to the Far East. They are once again working with Bob Ezrin at the helm.

Simon McBride report of the writing session in March 2023

Special thanks to Tobias Janaschke for reporting from behind the Instagram paywall.

If you read my post # 2 on “Packed House At A Splendid Theatre” I stated from Ian Paice that this was in the works so I wasn’t to surprised to read this. This is great news indeed! He also stated that discussions have already been had about my idea to do a show of things they never play. Well so far it looks like the first one is on the way, as for the second one, fingers are crossed. You never know it just could happen.

I hope the next album rocks more than recent efforts. I know these guys like to experiment but I’d like for them to do something that restores a lot of the classic elements
I’m withholding my opinion of Simon McBride until I hear what he can contribute to new Purple music. He did say that he wanted to bring a heavier edge. That sounds encouraging.

Eric, listen to his solo albums (I meanwhile have them all plus what he did with Sweet Savage and Snakecharmer) and you will not have to worry about the announced heavier edge actually coming. He’ll deliver in spades in that department.
