Message from Carole Stevens (Blackmore Productions):
Blackmore’s Night will not be performing at the Faerie festival in England. We will have shows scheduled for the UK in June 2007.
Faery Festival organiser (Karen Kay) said:
I have literally just been informed by Carole Stevens, the manager of Blackmores Night that they will no longer be performing at the festival, which is very disappointing indeed.
Thanks to Kevin Dixon and Paul Weaver for the info.
Last night I went to Oslo, Norway to catch Glenn Hughes at small club (Smuget) where he was doing a gig. This was not Glenn Hughes 1974 or 1994, this was Glenn 2006. Out of those 15 songs he played, 11 was from his last 2 albums (Soul Mover 2005 and Music For The Divine 2006). A new Glenn with a new band as well. For me, he could have just played new songs the whole evening, the 3 Deep Purple songs couldn’t stand up to the new material in the same way. The whole show was tight and the best moments were in songs like “In My Blood” and “You Got Soul”. For those of you who would like to see Glenn check out the tour dates. For those who couldn’t see him last night, might get another chance next year, since Glenn said he will be back next summer.
I think this is the correct setlist:
Valiant Denial
Monkey Man
Orion
Land Of The Livin’ (Wonderland)
Nights In White Satin
Black Light
Mistreated
In My Blood
Whiter Shade Of Pale
Don’t Let Me Bleed
You Got Soul
Steppin’ On
You Keep On Movin’
Soul Mover
Burn
Take care

The last four dates of the current Glenn Hughes European tour appear to be cancelled:
Unfortunately, due to personal circumstances, the last four dates of the Glenn Hughes European tour in Zurich, Munich, Koln and Bochum have regrettably been cancelled, and all tickets will be refunded. Hopefully, the dates will be rescheduled for 2007, but at the time of this announcement, there are no rescheduled dates confirmed.
Thanks to Daniel Bengtsson for the info.
In case you haven’t noticed it yet, we have started introducing THS web feeds a few months ago. Web feeds are a great way to get the news and updates from several web sites right on your desktop.
Feeds are now available for the News, Tour reviews and Blog sections of the site. Links can be found at the bottom of each page in the respective sections.
Tony Edwards, the first Deep Purple manager, is apparently a big Blackmore’s Night fan. He has contributed liner notes to their new album “Winter Carols”. The album is available on November 7 in USA and Canada, November 24 in Germany and November 27 in the rest of Europe, in Japan and Australia.
Thanks to Kevin Dixon and Blackmore Productions for the info.
We are changing our long standing editorial policy of not covering careers of former Deep Purple members and the family tree (“it’s not a tree, it’s a jungle” as Gillan have put it). The reason for this policy was that for some time THS was affiliated with the current Deep Purple management and served as an “official” web site for the band. This is no longer the case (and hasn’t been for a few years already). So we’ve decided to lift this restriction so that the fans can have a single place on the Internet to come and get the news on all things Purple. We’re not sure at this point if we have resources to also cover tour and album reviews for the family, but definitely the news.
