Sounds good & different and Big Ian has finally achieved the rich baritone he first attempted on Place In Line (with then somewhat shaky and forced results) – only took him the (slightly) better part of a century! 🤣 All good things come to those who wait and persevere!
Ian is in the process of losing his tenor voice and has been doing so for years, we all know that. But what sets him apart from his onetime successor from Saltburn-by-the-Sea is that he has gained/retained a nice baritone whereas DC’s 80s falsetto histrionics had also damaged his once lovely baritone voice beyond repair in the end.
Ian – hardly a healthier living type of person than DC – pulled the luckier straw. Darn genes.

you can really appreciate the DP’s sound compactness, Simon’s hard rock rhythm, Don’s sound work, Paicey’s drum fills, and then every now and then Roger pops up with his vest and bandana to keep time!
Neither Blackmore nor Ian are habitual liars, but they both take artistic license with the past and elevate personal anecdotal evidence experiences to universal, lasting insights. The memories of old men might seldom be in doubt, but that doesn’t make them right all the time either.
