Rainbow reunion

Joe Lynn Turner in an interview to Italian blog Spazio Rock spoke about the Rainbow reunion and said that what he previously touted as an impending event was essentially a figment of his imagination slightly exaggerated.

Here are the relevant bits:

Are you talking about it with Ritchie?

I hate to say it, but I’ve not spoken directly to him, but I have spoken to managers. I’m trying to convince his management that this is what we should do. That said, to be honest, I’m hitting a wall.

I don’t think Candice Night and Carole Stevens will agree easily…

I don’t want to speak badly. But the truth is the truth.

The poor guy seems to have wanted it to happen so badly.

So the BS is cleared. He is hitting the wall to desperately appeal to Ritchie…..This guy is a joke.

  3. 3
    Petr Čejka says:

I think that in a window of time he should think to do something with Rainbow again because 2014 would be our 40years, it would be our
    anniversary.

“Our”? What the hell is he talking about? That band started with RJD…… Joe had his minutes of fame at the end of Rainbow´s 80s existence – and it was obviously not powerful enough band when Ritchie agreed with reunion of Deep Purple……

    Arthur says:

I do like the JLT fronted versions of Rainbow and yes, even Slaves & Masters, but he needs to keep his mouth shut until he has something definitive to say. The hyperbole he talks about the impact of a Rainbow reunion is nonsense, sadly.

No Ronnie no rainbow….and since he’s dead, that’s that

  7. 7
    Sal says:

Thanks JLT for trying to press for the reunion. It is really our only chance for hearing classic songs from all of the Rainbow incarnations performed live. Please keep trying.

    Henry Sobieski says:

I saw through his drivel. Shame on him to use it as a tool to market Rated X. Hey Joe, where ya going with that microphone in your hand?

p.s. The Mediamass article is funny satire. Covergirl endorsements… hahahaha

  9. 9
    Bruce Pedersen says:

Pretty sure Ritchie told him to piss off.

  10. 10
    Alexandru Şestun says:

Poor fella he just can’t let it go

  11. 11
    Joe Crowley says:

He’s been doing it for years, he should just promote Rated X, whose album is a breath of fresh air from those rock icons

  12. 12
    Scoot says:

Can’t blame a guy for trying. Sometimes, if you rattle the cage enough, things happen. I have to agree (with no hard evidecne, just a chip on my shoulder) that Candice Night and Carole Stevens are likely to be the force that says, “I don’t think so.”

Tracy (Zero the Hero) Heyder says:

Damn it. I should have known and stuck to my gut feeling. Just when I was beginning to be sucked into JLTs enthusiasm about TMIB, it comes out. It was ALL BULLSHIT! I’ve been had. Ouch how the ‘Truth Hurts’. Back to my trusty JLT throwdown statement: “SHUT UP AND SING!”

    Chrissy says:

Why doesn’t everyone leave Ritchie alone??? He very happy in what he is doing. JLT just needs some publicity for his record.Thats why he throws around the BS to attract attention to himself. Enough already.

    peter wolf says:

I pose a question for all Rainbow fans including all three singers, well here goes, a Rainbow reformation and only 2 remaining Graham Bonnet or Joe Lynn Turner,
and if Ritchie agreed and by the looks of it including their manager, his missus
and anyone else involved chances are most likely none and if it did occur and Ritchie
did agree on Joe Lynn Tuner and it would be great to see him back in full flight, So I’ll
ask everyone a reunion with J.L.T is it better than not having one at all? I rest my case
    .

    Eamon O'Brosnachain says:

well done AGAIN joe stop talkin shite and stick to singing

  17. 17
    KIRK says:

He’s just talking a lot of crap to get his attention! Probably poor ticket sales to his shows not talking about his albums in charts…

  18. 18
    AlexBlackmore92 says:

Yeah, right, Joe made up all the rumours, said it will happen and when it is not – well who’s to blame? Of course Ritchie and his family. Sorry, but Joe is just a joke. It’s sad that great singer waste his time by telling BS stories about Coverdale’s miming and Rainbow Reunions…

    Svante Axbacke says:

    @15: Doogie White?

  20. 20
    David White says:

    Well I never ….

“The English guitarist has an estimated net worth of $275 million. He owes his fortune to smart stock investments, substantial property holdings, lucrative endorsement deals with CoverGirl cosmetics. He also owns several restaurants (the “Fat Blackmore Burger” chain) in London, a Football Team (the “Weston-super-Mare Angels”), has launched his own brand of Vodka (Pure Wonderblackmore – England), and is tackling the juniors market with a top-selling perfume (With Love from Ritchie) and a fashion line called “Ritchie Blackmore Seduction”.

  21. 21
    Andy says:

Nothing ventured nothing gained. I still like JLT, but this doesn’t help him or his latest band. It could have been great though . . .We still have Deep Purple, I love their sound with Morse & Airey. Whitesnake is also going strong, so best to focus on the positive. The band members that made DP great past and present are still going strong!

  22. 22
    Ron says:

    @5…..that is very funny.

I saw Blackmore’s Night last Spring in Virginia, USA. Show was sold out with about 1000 people there. About 30 were into the medieval music. Most of the others saw that Blackmore was playing and gave it a shot. Its very clear that Blackmore’s Night is Candice’s project with some pro help from Ritchie. She was center stage and he is the name. Bottom line, Ritchie is retired. No crime there, he deserves it and gave us all a great ride for so many years.

Rainbow was a big time band internationally. But Ritchie already resurrected the band in the 90s with a good album and great tour. I think the more interesting reunion would be to do something with Coverdale with a MKIII theme. Highly unlikely and even more unlikely would be Ritchie holding his nose and working with Hughes. Losing Jon is probably strike 3.

    kraatzy says:

Joe – you are a dreamer.
    and
    Joe – you are silly.

And because of that – I am sorry to say that: YOU ARE A SILLY DREAMER !!!

If Ritchie ever wish to have YOU back – as his Singer – it have been happend in the past …

But Joe, what happend truely in the past … he takes the young Doogie White … and not you !!!

And – to make a tour with a Blackmore (jun) ist not the same to be with the one and only Blackmore …

    And because all of that:

You are a very very silly dreamer.

Please shout your mouth and do not speculate about your dreams come true like it will really come true …

Nobody wants to hear this …

    Les Hedger says:

If Ritchie wanted to do it his managers couldn’t stop him. Maybe RB doesn’t want to talk to JLT.

  25. 25
    Marcel van der Geest says:

And if blackmore did, he`s right!

  26. 26
    Chris Mallinson says:

I’d have Doogie over the other two.

BTW DC has said that HE has been in touch with Ritchie and that Ritchie is wanting to do rock.

  27. 27
    Jeff says:

I cannot believe Turner did all that commenting in the media having had no interaction with Blackmore. Turner is obviously trying hard to survive in this tough economic climate. Just because he’s doing gigs with Alice Cooper or an album with Rated X does not mean he’s getting paid much. The climate is such that you do things just to elevate your profile these days. Sad but true. Say it isn’t so Joe? 🙂
I would like to hear Ritchie doing something new though…something more intense or darker.

  28. 28
    Mark Gowans says:

I think there’s more chance of Ritchie getting on a stage again with Ian Gillan than there is a Rainbow reunion.

  29. 29
    Ivano Bosello says:

Again! Please find to him a job! A really job.

  30. 30
    James Gemmell says:

Slaves & Masters was utter garbage, and got JLT booted out of the band. Blackmore and Gillan could be a possible one-off, non-DP project – now that they’re on speaking terms again. But no way in DP.

  31. 31
    Mark Bryant says:

    Do ya think!!!!

  32. 32
    Antonio Garcez says:

    Ha Ha….I dont think so

  33. 33
    Les Hedger says:

Ritchie could do an album featuring various singers, Coverdale, JLT, Gillan, Paul Rogers etc. No one knows.

  34. 34
    Danny says:

Haters gonna hate . Kudos for JLT for trying. Even if RB wanted to do it, his mother-in-law would put a stop to that. A real nasty piece of business according to many people who have had the misfortune to meet her…….

  35. 35
Tracy (Zero the Hero) Heyder says:

Looks like 2 other ‘Blackmore to play ROCK’ cheerleaders have risen along with JLT. COVERDALE and HUGHES. Funny how 3 EX Blackmore singers are all neck and neck throwing out their bait. JLT, Glenn Hughes and now Coverdale. Maybe this ain’t such a bad idea. Unfortunately I think Ritchie’s fingers are in his ears. But on that note, Ritchie collaborating with all of his EX singers on a NEW hard rock/heavy blues album. JLT, Coverdale, Hughes, Doogie, Bonnett, Gillan and (if somebody can find him) Rod Evans. One long jamming tune from each, along with an instrumental or 3

Now that would be a true landmark effort.

    @ Tracy 35

    Hey Tracy
What a great idea … but it have to be a very long long album because of his many EX singers …

And what did Glenn Hughes said?

    I agree 100% Tracy!!

  39. 39
    George says:

If Deep Purple were to end it, then there is a huge chance Rainbow will happen again . They can get Roger & Don Airey in. But why lie about something that’s not true, it’s what schools kids do. Was looking forward to something ,sounded like it might happen & he hasn’t even spoken with Ritchie yet?

    Kjell Goerlitz says:

Oh well, he could always jump on this train (from “Sounds-promotion.de”s site.):

“Tony Carey is also available for shows as: ‘Tony Carey’s Rainbow Project: the Dio Years’, playing the ’70’s hard rock with an all-star ensemble.”.

    Something tells me
    no,
    no,
    no, though…

  42. 42
    russ fleenor says:

Yes Tracy I that would be grand. And his mum in law needs to realize the world isn’t going to end if Ritchie does a one off. I just don’t know, I’d think if he wanted it then it would happen.
