There’s your answer

Ritchie Blackmore has also resumed some very light touring with two shows in Pennsylvania. Here is some amusing anecdotage as told on May 19, 2022, in Harrisburg, followed by an old Purple classic Soldier of Fortune

Same story shot from (what we think) a better angle:

Thanks to cherkazoo and Jim Powers for the videos and to osbaldo carrillo for the heads up.

They’re at ease with each other as a couple, that’s nice to see. And of course he can never really stop slightly mocking the boy from Redcar, but then grandstanding David makes himself an easy target.

I never subscribed to the “you need to have a favorite DP split-off band and put that above all the others”-tribalism. I saw great and not so great gigs by Rainbow, Whitesnake and Gillan. Each one of those bands had something that the others lacked (only DP combined all those traits which made it so superior in my ears). Rainbow had grandeur and of course Ritchie’s solo excursions, Marsden/Moody/Murray/Lord/Paice-Whitesnake had that incredible warmth, groove & subtle power and Gillan was off-the-wall, abrasive, edgy + unafraid to take risks, musically the most colorful of all three.

Two men in their early to mid-30ies beating each other up for who fronts the better band doesn’t strike me as adult behavior though. Coverdale has told the story differently, according to him Ritchie had half-in-jest (allegedly as retaliation for comments David had made about Rainbow in the press at the time) scrawled black magic symbols on a Munich hotel room door where he knew David was staying, which scared the living daylights out of David’s then-wife Julia when she stumbled across them (which hadn’t been Ritchie’s intention according to him) which in turn had David sucker-punch Ritchie when he met him after a Rainbow gig also in Munich. Whatever, getting in fights about black magic symbols doesn’t sound like sensible behavior either.

I can very well imagine though how someone like Brian May with his student class representative demeanor would prefer to ignore the altercation among ex-Purples at his feet! Tie your mother down indeed.

That was hilarious when Ritchie said of the microphone, “That’s Ronnie Dio.”
The whole banter between Ritchie and Candy is hilarious whenever they’re on video. Funniest wife/husband comedy duo since Sonny & Cher in the early 1970s.

One thing I always admired the most about Ian Gillan is that is not very good at BS.
Do whatever makes you happy Ritchie as I will always not remember you as a comedian 😂
    Peace ✌️

Well said about Mr Brian Class May, Uwe.

And yes Adel, I admire Gillan for that too.

Even now whereas DC and Glenn look ridiculous with they plastic surgery, IG doesn’t give a f&#@ about his look… And coincidentally, treats people FAR better than the 2 others.

Ritchie writing his auto would be nice.
