New take on Soldier of Fortune

Whitesnake’s record label has released another promo video for their upcoming Purple Album. Soldier of Fortune manages to avoid the hair metal clichés and stay closer to the original:

Thanks to Blabbermouth for the info.

Rather nice .. Apart from the silly harmonics. 🙂 Still love DC’s voice .. when he’s not screeching.

Nice rendition. Better? No. New? Yes. Good guitar collaboration? Absolutely. David, you did a nice job though I don’t quite understand where your ‘low frequency’ tone went. If I were you, I would seek that out and give it more focus. But then, I ain’t you and you do a fine job either way…… Just sayin’.

    Mike Whiteley says:

With the previous 3 songs/videos,it seemed that,in his determination to discourage comparisons,DC lost sight of just how great the original songs were & are. This remake, however, feels like a true homage. Much more like it.

I pre-ordered the CD a few days ago and I am glad I did!! What a great version of this song!!

I don’t like the effect on the vocal. Seems a bit robot-like. Acoustic guitar is nice.

I really like this version. David singing this as an older man really works for me.
The only way this could have been improved would be if Ritchie had played on it.
