It’s great that the band will get exposure on one of the 3 major US networks.
8:00 AM Thursday will find most fans on the way to work, but the online post will do the trick.
Not sure if NBC limits that to the US only.

This is really cool to see. Purple on a nationally syndicated mainstream TV show? AWWWWWESOME!!!!!! Now they can do the whole circuit… Tonight Show, Jimmy Kimmel, Late Night, Late Late Show, etc. Fantastic either way. DVR is set. This will be a nice little appetizer to the Ryman show in Nashville on August 2nd…

    CAN’T FRIGGIN’ WAIT!

  22. 22
    James O\'Brien says:

Actually the show starts at 7am EST, but I believe they won’t be on until the 8am hour. Give them time to rest after tonight’s show at the Bergen PAC. I thought I was not going to be able to see them due a mishap connected to my diabetes (I lost part of my left foot); however, my doctor has given me permission to go (as long as I don’t jump around like crazy- which will be difficult). I get to keep my streak. I have seen the guys on every tour since the initial Mark II reunion in 85 (including solo tours by Ian and Steve). Even have had the pleasure of meeting them after some shows (hope to do the same today).

  23. 23
    The Highway Star says:

Of course somebody will record it. It’ll be up on YouTube in seconds. 🙂

  24. 24
    Craig Bland says:

No in the so called “Rock” Roll HOF. What a joke.

  25. 25
    Tom Koifman says:

yeah but its not official 🙁

  26. 26
    Albania says:

I work half a block away from the NBC studio, and walk by there roughly 4 times a day including around 8 AM as I make my way to the office. I can even see the plaza from my office window…

Tomorrow, however, I will be coming in late after physical therapy related to surgery from a skiing accident at the end of the last season, so I will not be able to witness this incredible moment live 🙁

But I do get comfort in knowing that I will be enjoying this phenomenal band live on 7/25 at the Capitol Theater in Port Chester, NY.

I will certainly be playing DP in the car on the scenic Merrit Parkway to warm up for the show on the way from CT to NY this Saturday evening.

    Life IS good 😉

  27. 27
    James Gemmell says:

That’s the second-highest rated morning TV show in the United States. This is the best piece of publicity Deep Purple has received in America since 1974.

  28. 28
    James Gemmell says:

As James O’Brien stated above, the Today Show begins at 7 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time (EDT).

    That breaks down as:

    7 a.m. Eastern
    8 a.m. Central
    9 a.m. Mountain
    10 a.m. Pacific

  29. 29
    James Gemmell says:

A slight correction: As James O’Brien stated above, the Today Show air live beginning at 7 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time (EDT). It’s tape-delayed to the other time zones in America.

  30. 30
    MIKE RUSSO says:

LAST NIGHTS SHOW IN ENGLEWOOD, N.J. 7-22-15, WAS VERY GOOD, BAND IS STILL VERY TIGHT, PAICE & GLOVER WERE KILLIN, MORSE & AIRY AS WELL, IAN WAS STILL BELTING OUT THE HI NOTES, GOOD TO SEE THE BAND. CANT WAIT FOR SATURDAYS SHOW IN THE CAPITOL THEATER IN PORTCHESTER, NY, NICE

  31. 31
    The Highway Star says:

Huh? It’s the same broadcast and as long as NBC doesn’t take it down, it’s legal to watch. Can’t be more official. As for official concert recordings, if that was what you mean, there will be not one but two concert DVDs/Blurays from the current tour released later in the year.

  32. 32
    Tom Koifman says:

Wait to see that and for the 2 dvd and cd

  35. 35
    Jim says:

The segment with Deep Purple of the Today Show this morning included a brief interview with I. Gillian and then they played “Smoke on the Water”. It is always a great song to hear but Deep Purple are so much more than that and since it is their signature song, some must think they still just play their early songs. It was some national exposure for the band and a little plug for their two new live releases in Sept. but they deserve better for all their years of recording and touring.

  36. 36
    stoffer says:

@16 Tracy can’t wait either…………….where can we meet for a pre show drink or 3?!

  37. 37
    Kenth Andersson says:

Världens bästa band…still going strong, underbart

  38. 38
    Nick says:

Hey, when you’ve got three minutes with a national audience you go with what got there, baby. That means ‘Smoke.’ Great job, guys. With all the smoke and fire you still look and sound cool!

  39. 39
    maya says:

couldnt be happier for the exposure but as always exposure suffers to mass appeal in this case SOTW. wouldve been awesome if they had 15′ slot and did 3/4 tunes spanning most. imagine knockin on your back door or rat bat blue or ted the mechanic…ya i know this was of another nature and purpose but still one tune from a band called DEEP PURPPLE is a blasphemy

  40. 40
    Ray Matthews says:

I can hardly wait, wish it was sooner
    .

  41. 41
    Ray Matthews says:

The world’s greatest band of all times.
