Richard Hugh and Candice Lauren were pronounced husband and wife at 4:48 pm on October 5, 2008, at a small gathering of friends and family.

If you are responding to what I entered on #9, I don’t see the point of your question. I show no hate for Blackmore or his fine Maiden. Quite the contrary. Without Blackmore, there would be no website and Purple would never have existed. It was he, more than any other, who established the band and created the greater part of the classics that continue to be played to this day.
It is therefore amazing to see the sarcasm directed at this amazing musician.
What Blackmore chooses to do in his personal–and professional–life is his own business.

Funny how your type blame everyone else instead of the very person you are so driven to. He is in charge of his music and you are drunk on his ‘Kool-Aid’. I have a challenge for you. Play every BN CD, from beginning to end, back to back. If you don’t find yourself hearing the SOS, rehashed solos and monotone vocals, along with songs that all run together, over and over again, you truly are ready to push up some daisies. It’s the equivalent to Chinese Torture, whereby you are locked in a room and a water faucet continues to drip, drip, drip…..until you lose your mind and go insane….hmmmmm, maybe that’s the problem. Were you once held captive by the Chinese?
Do I enjoy BN from time to time? YES. But not when I want to Rock Out. Just when I need to pretend I’m flying through the forest on Pixie Dust and need a soft place to land. Then my headache from the excess of booze wears off.

The Blackmore debate is an interesting psychological study of two differant camps of Deep Purple fans. Followers of the band seem to be adamantly pro- or anti-Blackmore/Morse in the same way that they are pro- or anti-Turner/Gillan.
For some people, Deep Purple cannot exist without Gillan. This intelligentsia contend that the only “true” Purple is a Purple fronted by the Mark II singer. This is one reason why Turner was never and *could* never be accepted by these fans. It was simply “sacrilege” to have anyone replace Gillan.
You find this same philosophy among fans who say that Purple cannot exist without Blackmore. For this legion of fans, Morse is tolerated in the same manner that Turner was, but for them, Purple is not REALLY Purple–but is rather “something else”. Slaves & Masters is often thought of as an un-Purple album, even though had it been a *Rainbow* album, it most likely would have ranked highly.
Likewise, Blackmore is villified for disrupting the Purple “church”–a sort of Judas who brought a chaos for which some in the congregation can never forgive. It was not an amicable split in the way that Lord’s departure was. In that instance, we all saw it coming and were “prepared” for the change.
Thus, many harbor ill-will towards Blackmore, who cannot be forgiven for “breaking up” Purple and leaving the “faith”. The guitarist should be revered for his past contributions which are plentiful enough to warrant his retirement–if he so desires. But the animosity remains.
It’s just weird.

Would we all like to hear Ritchie rock again? Oh yeah, but I don’t think RB gives a f*** what anyone likes as long as he and his bride are happy (which everyone is entitled). Love him, hate him, make fun of his tights or whatever, he was once the best ROCK guitarist and probably still is just not for our beloved DP. I probably listen to more Morse era now but will never stop listening to DP with Blackmore and remembering fondly. The Only “Godlike” part of his voice that is missing, is the highest pitch of his scream. All else is in tact (some better than ever), and is proven all the time. His instrument is a physical one, which at least he continues to push to the max, screaming as much as possible to Deep Purple tunes. He hasn’t retired to the forest to coast along and plink away at meaningless “Halloween” festivals in the woods. He continues to produce some very good PURPLE stuff.
Ian quit in ’73 due to extensive pressure from the record label pushing for records and constant touring. Not to mention his constant battle with the ‘man in tights’. Ritchie quit in ’75. So what? They went on, and there are some great recordings done by various Purple Members ever since. Including TODAY.
We as Purple fans have a huge amount of thanks to give to ALL whom have graced the stage and studio as members. Each has their contribution, and each is as valid as the next. I have never minimized Ritchie’s part in this. On the contrary. He was my favorite guitarist for years, and his style has a place all it’s own. I love playing the records he is on, for the sake of hearing his guitar work. Just as I love putting on “Come Taste the Band”, when I wish to hear Bolin doing his thing. The present “Guitar God”, Mr. Morse is yet another level and layer of direction and sound that is wonderful to be added to this amazing group of players. None is better or worst than the other. It’s about taste and about what they are doing NOW. Ritchie isn’t making many of us happy right now. That’s his choice. But….I am very happy in the fact that PURPLE is still around, and still producing some great material.
So, to get back to the topic of this blog……
Good Luck Ritchie and Candice. May you have as wonderful a marriage as I do, and may it last forever. As far as BN……let’s put that to rest for a while and work on making some little “Blackmores”, and let the “Man in Tights” dawn his “WizARD” hat from the past and produce a ROCK RECORD so that all the little crybabies can finally have something new that they enjoy, rather than frustrate them with your ‘pussy ass twanging’ in the forest.
Oh, and Priest, HURT? Sorry, I didn’t intend to hurt you. Maybe you should switch off to Boy George for a while. Sit back and watch the “Crying Game”. DROWN? No thanks. I have way too many things to accomplish. Life is my Life………and I do it pretty well.

You have to know that I and my woman live in Italy; we are searching to have a baby but my woman has some problems so we have to take the way of Artificial fecondaione.
As everybody knows,here in italy if a couple wants take this way it has only 3 attempts to do,no more.
In other countries (also in Turkya…) it is not the same,there are not limits to attempts.
Somebody say that a normal couple is formed by a woman ad by a man,somebody says that there is nothing strange that 2 men or 2 women live together..
the real is that a lot of people in the name of God ( and in the name of Nation and in the name of the family like Mussolini said) a “normal” cuple have to make children…that/because homosexuality is not good (for..)…
so someone (Believer) or God should explain to me and maily to my girl why she was born with this suffering,why she must live without the emotions of a gestation…
we have to accept what nature (or God?) gave us,this is my form to respect God (not to go in the moltitudes Pope’s house) but someone (my Governament,The Church) have to explain to me why a lot of italians go to foreigners coiuntries for embryo research and for Medically assisted procreation.

For Christ’s Sake is that all that matters? Thanking those that comfort and agree with your words to the point that it becomes a crying and hugging session for hurt and healing feelings?
I do believe it’s time you thin skinned cry babies truly think about finding a more soft and less “Rockin'” site to have your little ‘self esteem’ building sessions on….maybe “Blackmore’s Night’s” site. Maybe Candice can sing you all a little lullaby in her monotone voice for your monotone mind to digest and take you to “Never Never Land” where all is pink and twinkly.
You don’t see ‘Stefan, or Rascal, or Seven-47, or myself’ sucking up to each other everytime one of us agrees with something and expressing “Oh Thank you, thank you, thank you for backing me up and going against the big bad other guys”. We respectfully agree or disagree and express ourselves in whatever manner we choose, without the need for ‘apologies or recognition’. I’m sure we could sit in a Pub having a balls to the wall arguement about ‘whatever’, pour down some large steins of a fine lager down the pipes and bid each other a fine farewell till the next time and do it all over again.
A perfect example is Seven-47. Me and him had a huge slam band disagreement about the dead singer from Quiet Riot as he stated above. He had his strong personal views and I had mine. Yes, admittedly I do have a tendency to be very sarcastic and go to an extreme when conveying my point, and he figured that out. We have no hard feelings as far as I know for each other and turned the page. Now today, we respectfully agree or disagree and express our opinion OUR WAY. I totally respect him for GETTING IT. He figured me out and doesn’t take my sarcasm to heart. I think he returns the respect. Maybe not, but again, that is for him to do on his own, and not by whether or not it is supported by others whom jump on the same bandwagon……
I ask one thing from you all whom seem to NOT GET IT. Just go back over my writings on this blog and what they pertained to. Do it with ‘eyes wide open’. Think about the song “Things I Never Said” when you are done. Then think about what it is that you hear when read what I did say…..
Probably too much to ask from fellow Deep Purple Fans….
Don’t forget, in the end, that is all we are.

I have been lucky in the fact that the music I was attracted to as a young little ‘Red Neck’ was a good choice. That is, the bands I loved then still are doing it today….Ted, Purple, Alice Cooper, Sabbath (in one form or another), Pink Floyd (in some form or another) and the many spin offs that abound from each of these….I’ve been blessed. Yes I have seen Ted a few times, but the most memorable was when he opened for Purple a few years back. How cool was that to see him and my all time favorite band on the same ticket. If you have access to the “Outdoor Channel” on your cable network, check out “The Spirit of the Wild” on Tuesdays and Saturdays, whereby Ted hunts Deer and other critters on his ranch. Me and him have way too much in common….being hunters, musicians, clean and(me, not so sober, but in control), and the love of this piece of dirt called America.

I do worry about Carole Stevens influence over the pair though as she’s building a sort of Sharron Osbourne reputation lately.
I feel that if the pair distance themselves from that then they’ve got a good chance.
I love Blackmore’s Night but I have missed those wonderful Blackmore fret shreds of old. I do not think it would be boyond the realms of plausability if Ritchie balances the existance of BN, with a version of Rainbow and alternate between the two. I doubt Carole would allow that though.
It just leaves a big question mark over this marriage as to why, after nearly 18 years together without tying the knot, that they’ve decided to take the plunge?
Is Candice ready to give him the brush off now that she’s built an almost credible reputation of her own?
Or is it because Ritchie is now planning to apply for US Citizenship?
Maybe I’m a cynic, but I hope there’s a pre-nup.
Or maybe, just maybe, it is because they genuinely DO love each other.

I find very strange that He does not wish enjoy with DP and with Rainbow when he shows to be nostalgic, I would understand why he loves playing on stage with BN old DP’s songs and old Rainb’s song’s…
I find very sad listend humiliated songs like Child In Time and The temple Of The King,just for making an example..
He loves those songs,but it seems he continue to refuse his past…
I don’t like to see how old gold pieces may be destroyed..
Have you never listened Child In Time perfomed by BN and by that vocal? very sad..
anyway..He likes that and a lot of fans love him again..

it means that the real truth is that most of them hate to each other (Gillan/Blacmore at all)..
I don’t find others reasons (also the relations between Blackmore and Dio have never been always idyllic…)..
