Ruminations at the end of a leg

Roger contemplates the end of the tour leg:

If you think I’m going to sit here and look for words of complaint about the rapid passing of time, you’d be right. I realise that the precious time spent with my mother before she passed away took a large chunk out of the year but even so, I find myself looking at September coming around when I had barely kissed goodbye to January.

    Steve Osgood says:

    Roger,

Make the record that you want to make, never mind another Purpendicular, another Butterfly Ball, another In Rock…. make the music the comes from you and no one should ask you to force it.

Of course playing a big chunk of Purpendicular live would be nice!

If you want to do music like ‘the mask’ or ‘snapshot’, please don’t do it,
If you wanna do something similiar to Butterfly ball or accidentally.. please do it.

Rubbish, I’ll give you The Mask, but Snapshot is obviously incomprehensive to you, too bad, your loss man… it’s a quality friggen masterpiece. Funny how the good stuff falls on deaf ears.

    Crimson

you are using too ‘heavy’ words…

I like only two songs from ‘snapshot’ and I think is the worst album togehther with ‘the mask’ particulary if compared to the absolute masterpiece’butterfly ball’ and the good ‘elements’, but if you like it’s good for you…

Not “just me” that album is brilliant in many minds, but whatever you say… okay.(hope thats light enough for you)

I still see people carying on here as if Purple will not be recording another album as scheduled, nonsence, you’ll get your album, but don’t expect them to reinvent the wheel, it’s not 1970 when they already did that… you can’t re-reinvent, you have to just keep building on your invention.

CRIMSON , YOU SAID IT BEST WHEN YOU WROTE ” DON’T EXPECT THEM TO REINVENT THE WHEEL, IT’S NOT 1970 WHEN THEY ALREADY DID THAT “…. SO TRUE… IN ROCK TOTALLY DEFINED THEIR GREATNESS AND SURPASSES MACHINE HEAD AND MAYBE EVEN MADE IN JAPAN WITH ITS SHEER POWER..MY OPINION ONLY… WHATEVER DEEP PURPLE PUTS OUT AS THEIR NEXT ALBUMS WILL NEVER COMPARE TO WHAT MADE THEM ONE OF THE BEST ROCK BANDS IN EXISTENCE…. YES , STEVE MORSE IS A GREAT GUITARIST, BUT.. RITCHIE BLACKMORE , PLEASE COME TO YOUR SENSES .. lol !!
