Fires at Midnight in Chicago

Ten days ago I was in Chicago to see Blackmore’s Night with a couple of my friends. We drove 2,600 km (that’s 1,600 miles in medieval units) for that gig and to catch Steve Morse Band in Toronto on the way back next day. Was it worth it? Absolutely. On both counts.

You see, lots of people come to a Blackmore’s Night gig waiting for only one thing — those 15 minutes when he picks up his Strat. And then they expect to hear Rainbow or Deep Purple. And then they go home frustrated and disappointed. Because it ain’t Rainbow or Deep Purple. It ain’t rawk.

It’s something different. And it has been so for 12 years.

Thanks to wodnik35 for uploading the videos, to Daniel Bengtsson for bringing it up, and to James the Mechanic for his heroic driving.

Both Mike and AndreaA. Take a break both of you. WHY do you and other people have to be like that to Blackmore or Joe Lyn Turner.
I would love to see and hear Ritchie play rock again, but now this is his kind of music and he is – as always – VERY good playing. I have seen him 3 times with BN and I like most of it.
You are both a vaste of time reading. Grow up!!!

Well Mike, good for you to save some of gasoline, but it’d be nice also to spare us from comments such is this, “jerk” and stuf – save your time beside gas money, and do a favor for music lovers 🙂

    Cheers!..

I wholeheartedly empathize with the growing discontempt of the proceedings of both DP and BN but I also feel WE should try to stay out of calling people names like JERK or POOF or something like that.

I admit I slipped here and there in the past……

Where to draw the line ?

    And I m just a man fuming……..

    NOBODYsPERFECT

    I cant spare gasoline, I just own a bike…..

Does someone remember the several pics of Ritchie on a bike?

God and me both like to ride a bike, hehehe

I agree with Priest….partially. Some terms are actually adjectives used to describe ones persona….”Poofy”. Jerk is just name calling and unnecessary…Unless of course in your presence, Blackmore or whoever acted like a Jerk, then that would fall under the category of an adjective. It’s all in how the word is used and why. If it’s just to make a derogatory remark toward someone then again..totally unnecessary. Now, if Blackmore were to Jerk you head off your shoulders due to calling him a Jerk, that would be a verb which the action term used due to using the same word as Name calling which then pissed off Blackers, causing him to use the word for a much more valuable reason beyond just being a jerk. That would be him Jerking a Jerks head of his shoulders….

So, let’s not be Jerks and namecall……unless of course it’s Funny…that’s all together different….he he he.

    Cheers

I must admit that first Blackmore Night album was BRILLIANT but who would of thunk here we are virtual light years since that day and still Ritchie is still playing at the Renaissance Faire. I tells ya it must be some type of time warp from an Old STAR TREK episode. The sad part about all of this is Blackmore was the greatest hard rock guitarist of all times and now it has come to this. Kind of like when Larry Holmes beat the living daylights out of Muhammed Ali and there was nothing none of us could do about it. Candice must have one helluva upper cut. LOL.

I do understand the Muppets association.

Ofcourse things can be funny but…..using rabbits and so on on stage???!!!

It completely remembers me of Ritchies saying many moons ago that he could not understand why the great Paul Mc Cartney kept on playing music for children…….
