At the oxygen

Another audience film of a full show from the current tour. This one is from London O2 gig on October 20, 2022. It is shot quite a bit further from the stage than the Milan offering. On the plus side, the singer is in top form right from the beginning.

Thanks to LSV for the video and to Mike Whiteley for bringing it to your attention.

Here are 3 pro-shot videos from spanish TV-stations from their visit in Mérida Spain Sept.23 2022.
The first one is “Pictures of home” live
The other two are from a “walk of fame”, sort of, induction.

I remember Ian Gillan in an interview asking fans to enjoy the moment and put their phones down and enjoy the show.
Looks like it always falls on deaf ears.
I think it’s a crime to use your phone to record a full concert.
Also it doesn’t do the show any justice.
    Peace ✌️

A long time ago, I tried holding up my phone (or camera, at the time) a couple of times to record songs, but I soon noticed that it doesn’t feel like you’re at a concert while you’re filming, so I quickly got rid of that habit.
And watching the videos that other people publish – it’s an ambivalent thing, really. It can take away a lot of the magic of a live show, but on the other hand, if the band is touring on the other side of the world, might as well take a peek what they’re up to…

Purple’s touring days are surely numbered. So, if watching a YT video is the only way I’ll likely get to see the band again….fair enough. Of course,I will continue to buy any official DVD releases, as well.

@4 exactly! I personally will not hold my phone up to record, I don’t want to be distracted from the event of seeing DP! I do enjoy watching them on YT from all over the world, it keeps me up to date, so I don’t mind if someone wants to record as long as they aren’t right in front of me 😂 hoping for an official DVD as well

While I might record a few minutes of any show it is basically just a glorified photograph for me, especially since I still use a Flip Phone. I do chuckle when I see people trying to get great video instead of enjoying the moment, unless they are blocking my view, but I get it as a souvenir. However I do think it’s cool that I can go to You Tube and re-experience a show that I was at. If the Fox Theatre in Riverside, CA was the last time I got to see DP then I am glad that there are a few songs to go back an enjoy (as compared to the next show in Los Angeles that has multiple views of almost every song).
On a simi-related point concerning show recordings, the best merch I ever got at a show was at Bad Company some years back when they selling freshly baked CDs of that very show right afterwards, warts and all as they say with the microphone malfunction. Now that was an official bootleg. It was the first and last time I have ever seen something like that offered and I wish it would happen more.

I’ve been in Milan and in London
In Milan the guys were amazing, great interpaly among them and great energy.
Ian Gillan incredible and the audience were very warm, very strong, they gave the energy to the band and the band reciprocated.
One of the best show in years.
In London the audience were very cold, detached…so the performance was a bit subdued…
I spoke to Roger after both shows and he thought the same thing.

    That’s life…
