First impressions of Didi Zill’s new photobook

Didi Zill’s photobook Deep Purple Fotografien has been spotted in the wild. Just like the first edition, it is a massive and heavy 465 pages thick book, with lots of brilliant pictures. According to the publisher, the first 3,333 copies are a limited edition, numbered and signed by Didi Zill. From what we hear, this is to compensate for the long waiting time and the numerous delays this book has had. (This second edition was first talked about all the way back in 2006!)

We have not seen the new edition in flesh and blood yet, but from what we’ve been able to ascertain, the colour reproduction problems of the first edition have been corrected.

A few snapshots of the book:

Many thanks to Lutz Reinert for the info and pictures.

Update: The book can be ordered directly from the publisher (with rather hefty overseas shipping fee of €75). Amazon UK is a good alternative to save on shipping.

Nice image of Blackmore & Gillan. They are probably having a good laugh at some chick getting her tits out by the look of that!

How many pics from the 70’s?

    Lutz says:

    @ 7 Henrik

Hi Henrik, the first about 220 pages are 70’s. Mk 2 through Mk 4 and a picture set covering Rainbow 1976/77. The rest of the book covers the reunion of Mk 2 and DP Mk 5 through Mk 8, including a short photo set of Whitesnake.

    Hope this helps,

The book arrived on Tuesday and I finished it today. It’s a great hardcover book of about 450 pages. Half about them about the 70’s, a small chapter on Rainbow & Whitesnake, followed by Purple in the 80’s, the JLT era, Battle era and then jumping to 2006. Photos cover everything from live shows, backstage, but also private photos shot at their homes (the Jon Lord ones are really great).

Worth every penny if you’re a fan (and if you’re not, what are you doing here anyway…) 🙂

Just ordered mine here in Canada from Amazon. It is being shipped from the Uk for $6.95! Let’s see how that goes! They give an extra discount off the $117 price if you sign up on their credit card. Extra $15. Looking forward to it.

Got the book today. Love it! Well worth the money. I am wondering if this is an update to the first Didi Zill book or the same photos in a better edition? Anyone know?
