Suzi Quatro? Who is she? If I remember right, there was a person of the same name back in the early seventies. But she had nothing to do with loudness, not to say anything about essential loudness. I rememeber she used to chew gum. Bubble gum. 🙂

It was in fact a nice show about the history of rock music from the begining to the early ´70 with some film scenes from and with Led Zep, Black Sabbath, Vanilla Fudge, Suzi Quatro, Jimi Hendrix, The Kings, The Who, MC5 … and of course with DEEP PURPLE and with some nice comments from Ian Gillan.

So, why did it have to be, or why did rock became so loud?

Well, I heard Pete Townshend had to order louder Marshalls because he had to compete with Keith Moon’s drums….

That period of time was the “Big Bang” for rockmusic! The music exploded in so many different directions:

    – the progressiv rock (with Pink Floyd + King Crimson)
    – the art rock (Genesis + Yes)
    – the melodic side of rock (with Wishbone Ash)
    – the blues+bluesrock (Taste, and later Rory Gallagher solo)
    – and Jethro Tull brought us the flute tunes

Really a great time to enjoy…

    Have a nice Day!
