Steve Morse speaks at the NAMM

Steve Morse have appeared at this year NAMM to do various endorsements and sometime inbetween them gave this quick interview (amidst lots of background noise) to vintagerock.com. Of interest to our readers is his reiteration that Deep Purple are going to start working on the new album “within the next 60 days” and that they might be touring the USA later this year. As far as the latter goes, perhaps it’s time for all purple-starved people this side of the pond to start bugging their local promoters.

Steve Morse and Dave LaRue jam at the NAMM’2011:

Thanks to vintagerock.com and TheGiggingMusician for the videos and to Blabbermouth for bringing them to your attention.

A band album by this group of gentlemen would be a nice extra bonus. Separately they are making great music all the time. E.g. Morocco is the best music Mister Gillan has ever made solo. I sure hope Mr. Glover would go to the studio and start working on a new album of his own. Snapshot was a big surprise full of good songs. It’s nice they still have this side-project called Deep Purple.

I thought some of you might appreciate a Gillan recording in which he is doing an acceptable performance?

To me Linz sounds more convincing than the regular DP shows off late in which he is constantly struggling.

Well, good that you are able to laugh about it.

Thanks for the good intentions !
    Cheers.
(Btw : saw DP on 26th of November 2010 in Oldenburg, it was imho the best performance of Gillan since February 2006)

As infrequently as they tour the US, this could very well be the last time and at the rate they are producing new music it could be the last of that too. I just hope it’s all true. It would be great to see them this summer. It’s a shame it has been so long between releases. Personally, I thought all the Morse-Era albums were getting progressively better.
