New Whitesnake album may be due in October

Update from David Coverdale on the new Whitesnake album:

I am thrilled, erect nipples an’ all, with the new songs [for the upcoming Whitesnake album, tentatively titled ‘Good to be Bad’] and very excited to be presenting them to [the fans] later this year. SPV’s wishlist is for an October release, so we’re not having to pressure ourselves with too extreme a deadline. God willing, those days be gone. As far as touring, it appears this will also be late summer, as the ENTIRE WORLD is out there on the road thro’ the summer, doing their very best to seduce y’all. My U.S. agent told me that every single amphitheatre in every major city in the States has a ‘name’ act headlining every night of the week this season… So unless any significant touring opportunity presents itself I think we’ll concentrate on making a cracking record that will make us all proud…

I was talking with Doug [Aldrich] recently that I was thinking that some of the new songs could use some of Glenn’s [Hughes] extraordinary singing, but, just a thought at this time. I haven’t discussed anything with him. We shall have to see how that goes, so please don’t be holding me to anything. Glenn and I were in touch recently, with him telling me about his tour in Russia. He tells me there is great interest in a DEEP PURPLE Mk. 3 reunion over there.

We must add here that the wild rumours circulating on the internet regarding Glenn Hughes mentioning in Russia Mk.3 reunion as already happening this year, have been, to put it mildly, highly unsubstantiated. Frankly, I can’t see it happening in the foreseen future.

In other news, one of the new Whitesnake songs “Ready to Rock” that was released on “Live… In the Shadow of the Blues” has been posted at SPV Records web site (Real Media format). Also, the 20th anniversary reissue of the hairspray era 1987 album will feature a bonus DVD and will be released April 27, 2007. You can buy it in our shop.

Thanks to Blabbermouth.net and www.deep-purple.ru for the info.

Ooooohhh…that would be what the world has waited for (Caution!Irony!)…
Glenn Hughes back in place to once again mess up Smoke On The Water, Space Trucking et al with his r’n’b & soul “repertoire”. Please don’t ever let it happen!!

I think it is easier to bring Tommy Bolin back than to put RB together with them on the same stage….

I don’t think a Mark II reunion will happen.

But Glenn Hughes singing a few tracks together with Dacid on the new Whitesnake album would be highly appreciatetd!!!

It would be a great desire for me and other fans.

    Mrk III reunion?
Better today than tomorrow. I cant wait to hear Coverdale & Hughes together with Blackmore in 2007. The best that can happen to any of them!! With Lord perfect, but Paice I thing he better stay with the other Purple lineup. Then we have 2 times Purple around – I cant ask for much more

I know I’m dreaming, but sometimes dreams comes alive.

Uuhh, i’d love to watch a mark III live… it’s one of my dreams!!!

frankly, gillian hasn’t a good voice by now… while the two coverdale and hughes are really brilliant!!!

Mark III with Blackmore/Lord/Coverdale/Hughes…… that would be electric !!!! this band would be fire hot until a certain man in black would get bored and turn sour and then well you know……

Mr Jon Lord would not be in. Certainly Mr Ian Paice would not be in. And Mr Blackmore would not be in. Interesting question is: will Coverdale and Hughes make (a) Deep Purple?

Mark III reunion? Not very likely, but if it happens I’ll be first in line for a ticket!Time is running out if they want it to happen, the old peoples home is just around the corner…..and who´s going to lure “Blackers” out of the claws
of the goldigging Candice…let´s face it,he’s totally whipped! As far as Glenn messing anything up dear Adam…apparently you’re tonedeaf! As far as I am concerned he puts funk, muscle, swagger and a huge boner in those songs with that VOICE and playing…..!!!!

A mark 3 reunion…? wow that would be great but its wishful thinking.Frankly its not going to happen though i wish it could. it would be soul strirring to hear some new magic what they could conjure up & also to hear some old gems. A certain man in black seems content with BN. So i dont see him stirring out of that reverie. paicey looks too set with gillan to even from from there. A Coverdale /Hughes/Lord dont maketh a mark 3 reunion. you need blacky & paicey also.

Oh no, stefan, I’m not tonedeaf, be sure! I just wanted to say that I am of the opinion that “Smoke on the Water” never needed “Georgia on my mind”, that “Space Trucking” never needed “You got to dance to the Rock’n’Roll” (I’m talking about live renditions) and that Deep Purple altogether never needed “Hold On”, “Getting Tighter” or “I Need Love”. Didn’t mean to offend you or anybody.

Maybe I should add, as long as he won’t give it some Stevie Wonder, Glenn is fine by me, too! Like on the old live vinyls of London, Europe and Japan. They were heavily edited, but in a way that favoured this point of view, that’s why I liked them – and regretted that they weren’t left at that for CD. But that’s another story…

    Stefan says:

    Dear Adam!

O.K. point taken!I guess it´s just a matter of taste and that´s fine by me!Maybe I´m a little bit touchy since the man along with the old “Cov” are my big heroes. Was lucky enough to meet Glenn backstage at his Copenhagen gig last november…almost wet myself. The most important issue here is that we all love Purple…..RIGHT?So to you Adam and everyone else….All the best!!!!!

    Eric Odijk says:

Blackmore, Coverdale, Hughes, Lord and… Bill Bruford perhaps? The man is of the same generation and has certainly been there. Want to know what he can do? Get Fragile by Yes and Red by King Crimson. The man can most certainly rock, and play jazz, blues and alternative rhythms as well. Like probably no one can.
Just my wish. Oh, and if they would do a track from Come Taste The Band to honour Tommy Bolin, I would be very happy. Maybe it is a dream… but a nice one, isn’t it?
