After all we said today
A second single for the upcoming remix of Rapture of the Deep has been released. Behold, it’s Clearly Quite Absurd.
The b-side (whatever it is in this digital world) is an instrumental version of MTV that is said to be previously available as a bonus track on the limited edition of the album (it is not clear on which exactly of the 59 variations of it).
Thanks to Trond, Amit, Tobias, and Kalle for the info.
Possibly the best song on the album,or a close second to the title cut. Certainly one of the best Purple lyrics of the last 20 years. Musically,I’ve always liked Steve’s ascending coda on the baritone guitar and Don’s solo.
June 30th, 2025 at 18:06My humble take. Both bananas and rotd were absolutely out of time at the Time. The problem though was not (never is) with Time. Merging the two with fillers out might have been a good album out of Time.
June 30th, 2025 at 18:14Rapture of the deep is also up since 2 weeks but very well hidden and can’t be found. It is a mistery cos it was published by official chanel but very hard to find…

June 30th, 2025 at 18:27How great ! Sound is magnificient so we can enjoy even more Gillan’s sublime work on that song.
June 30th, 2025 at 18:33The new MTV-Version is an instrumental studio jam. Not the old bonus track for the original album.
The studio-jam is a great find. Absolutely great rhythmguitar. And very well done solos by Steve and Don.

The ROTD video which HRISTO mentioned is the normal version, not the remix.
June 30th, 2025 at 19:19This sounds absolutely amazing…I bet Mr Grover and Mr Gillian will be well pleased about it !
Can’t wait for this to come out , I’m soooo excited about it . Can you imagine how Don’t let go and Before time are gonna sound !?
June 30th, 2025 at 20:54I’m far more excited about this then any new studio album with that clueless session player they’ve got ….Just listen to Steve’s playing on this ….get him back !!
I kind of like this version better than the original. Despite the great lyrics, they sound odd; sort of like those in Drop The Weapon. I’m looking forward to it, too. I’ve been struggling a bit with not having Steve in the band. He’s accepted it, it seems. Anybody who feels the same should do what I did and check out Simon playing Satch Boogie in 1992 and the comments afterward.
June 30th, 2025 at 21:14EarMusic wrote that [the official studio version of] MTV was only released on limited versions of the album. This instrumental jam wasn’t released before.
June 30th, 2025 at 21:54Steve, calling Simon a “session player“ and Herr Morse not, is a bit rich – last I looked at my collection, Steve M played a wealth more sessions than Simon …
June 30th, 2025 at 23:05Well, SM has a 25 year head start on Simon. 🙂
