We all came out to college

Sometimes Deep Purple related news come when you least expect it. I was browsing the conference schedule for a pro audio-video tradeshow taking place in Stockholm in early October. Kicking off the proceedings is a talk called, “Smoke on the Water – the story behind a rock classic“. A kind of odd topic where the other talks are about things like, “The future of networked audio” and “Studio design from a holistic perspective”.

From the description of the event:

The journey starts with that fateful night in Montreux and the recording of Machine Head, on to Made in Japan, the live album that captured Deep Purple during a period of astonishing musical energy and an album still considered as one of the greatest live albums in rock history.

Speaker is Jan-Olof Gullö, professor at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, Sweden.
