Blame it on the cat
Ritchie Blackmore was interviewed by Phil Aston for the Now Spinning Magazine podcast. In this the first episode of what is promised to be a 13-part series, no less, Ritchie talks about his recent guest appearance on stage with Deep Purple.
Thanks to Fla76 for the heads-up.

Unauthorized copying, while sometimes necessary, is never as good as the real thing
Very perceptive of Ritchie: It’s one of the most prevalent lies with wimmen that their men all snore – don’t tell me! A century-old hoax and defamation.
More sermons from Vicar Phil of Aston please, I am among the faithful now!!!

September 26th, 2026 at 01:07@1 Good point, Uwe. Phil Aston’s great. Love his polite, insightful interviewing style – and he’s a Purple nut like the rest of us. He has an amazing collection of albums/CDs/whatever. The unboxing videos are the best on Now Spinning Magazine site. Ritchie has lost none of his humor. In fact, it’s gotten better and better and, I’m sure, that’s why he and Big Ian have been hitting it off for several years now. It would be cool if Ian Gillan were to bring that Scribblin’ Gibbrish spoken-word tour to Long Island next year and get the Man in Black up on stage. Would love to hear some of the stories from the early days.
September 27th, 2026 at 01:01Thank you sharing and your kind words. This is a dream come true for me. I first saw Ritchie on the Burn tour in 1974 as a 15 year old schoolboy. Never did I imagine I would one day interview him. Phil 🙂
September 27th, 2026 at 07:56This whole episode has been wonderful, let’s be honest – as Phil said in the immediate aftermath “it’s later than we think” and I for one remain amazed yet delighted the whole thing came to pass. It’s seems like a tranquil peace has settled, akin to a morning mist draped within the Purple valley, giving way to a perfect spring morning.
Was it perfect? Probably no, but was it monumental in our little corner of the world ? Yep.
Delighted for Phil – eloquent and passionate – the perfect interviewer for the new relaxed and nostalgic Ritchie.
Can’t wait to see the rest of the interview.
Long live rock and roll 🎸 and Ritchie.

Hi Phil, you are welcome to the pages of THS!
Thanks for all your videos about Deep Purple.
September 27th, 2026 at 19:44I always really enjoy watching them and I always agree with your analyses!
Great! I can’t wait to see them all. Thanks to Phil for this and all of his nice videos!

How come I encounter an instantly into Dutch translated version?

September 28th, 2026 at 13:51Because we’re all under constant algorithm surveillance, that’s why!
Oh how prophetic Rob was:
Up here in space
I’m looking down on you
My laser’s trace
Everything you do
You think you’ve private lives, think nothing of the kind
There is no true escape, I’m watching all the time
I’m made of metal
My circuits gleam
I am perpetual
I keep the country clean
I’m elected electric spy
I’m protected electric eye
Always in focus
You can’t feel my stare
I zoom into you
But you don’t know I’m there
I take a pride in probing all your secret moves
My tearless retina takes pictures that can prove
I’m made of metal
My circuits gleam
I am perpetual
I keep the country clean
I’m elected electric spy
I’m protected electric eye
Electric eye
In the sky
Feel my stare
Always there
There’s nothing you can do about it
Develop and expose
I feed upon your every thought
And so my power grows
I’m made of metal
My circuits gleam
I am perpetual
I keep the country clean
I’m elected electric spy
I’m protected electric eye
I’m elected electric spy
I’m elected
Protective
Detective
Electric eye

September 28th, 2026 at 15:28Well done , Phil on getting this series of interviews.
September 28th, 2026 at 20:46Reward for your hard work+genuine support for Purple+all associated bands.
Loved your chat with Glenn Hughes and this chat w/Richardo will be great craic.
It ll not make me lay awake, Phil.
I just clicked again.
First you talked English but within seconds an AI(?)it turns into Dutch.
” Smoke on the teawater” is 1 of the results.

which browser do you use? There are browser plugins that do this and maybe you have one of them enabled? I would first try in some other browser, e.g. if you use Chrome, then try in Firefox to see if the same happens etc. Then you can check how to find and disable the plugin.
According to Douglas Adams “By removing language barriers between cultures, the Babel fish accidentally causes more and bloodier wars than anything else in history”. Do we see this starting from Phil’s videos?!
September 29th, 2026 at 12:39Btw, I never asked for this, its also the first time that something automatically does this.
I hate synchronisation.
We here are used to manage English, though there are still weird cases that cant,so fuck off with this shit.
As a child I didnt think about all of this, seeing on German tv Indians talking German, I immediately stopped watching,
Then again, I had been used when being a child, to see countless productions where people like the Indians spoke English and it got subtitled into Dutch, so…..
September 29th, 2026 at 13:03Dear Phil, my sincere apologies for chiming in so late publicly. We are wrapping up another glorious visit to Paris and getting ready for yet another epic journey to Eperany and the surrounding villages. Things are slowly but surely settling down after Celine’s massive return and the Pope’s tremendous visit.
September 30th, 2026 at 02:15I was among the many fortunate to witness in person the closing of the circle at Jones Beach. We were ankle-deep in water in the 13th row (usually my favorite section of the venue). And when Ritchie came out and played, with the band smiling from ear to ear and big Ian putting his arm around him, it did indeed feel like the cure for cancer had finally been found. As you usually so aptly say in your show: “Music is the Healer.”
Thank you for waving the Purple flag as long as you have.
I hope to catch up in person at The Royal Albert Hall in November. Until then, stay well.
Your fan and admirer, Albania 🇦🇱.
“seeing on German tv Indians talking German, I immediately stopped watching”
But our Injuns were called Pierre Brice and filmed in Yugoslavia, they only spoke German with a heavy French accent, n’est-ce pas!

OTOH, what would German TV have been without heavy Dutch accents?

September 30th, 2026 at 13:23Weird thing is that this Phil Ashton edition is , for now, the only one where it occurs.
AI is going to give us pleasure but headaches as well.

I m uncertain here .
Originally I hopped from one browser to the other to stay with google chrome for years.
It made a difference which one because avoiding ads on yt for instance was 1 of the benefits I had switching.
FIREFOX I used a long time but for some reason I left that behind.
I exchanged the googlesearch bar for duckduck go which not always is satisfying
It appears to me some old articles were regularly shown on google but not on DDG.
Right now, just before october I m uneasy because MICROSOFT said to stop security updates.
And though somewhere I tried to add myself to a list which implied I could prolong/extension if I paid something.
Didnt hear a word since.
So what to do?
Believe me or not but I m working on a PC bought in 2010 ,windows 7 and on top windows 10.
Although tru the years I often crashed or had obstacles/issues it in general kept working fine.
Not only that, since recent my PC and or Monitor seem to have a signal/starting up issue.
I dont know what causes it but unplugging/rebooting seems to be useful.
But it keeps happening and when I take a break my session is gone after I return.
I think certain software detects when I search for pc related issues and solutions but maybe I can call my provider as well?
Kind Regards, the non digital Monkey
September 30th, 2026 at 14:15“Music is the Healer.” is something Glenn often said.
Not enjoying this but his recent history tells me thinking positive really saves people.
Lord was a very positive minded man but we all know he prematurely died.
September 30th, 2026 at 14:56Such a waste of a man who still could have delivered so much more.
Yo,
@18 said qt.”Lord was a very positive minded man but we all know he prematurely died. Such a waste of a man who still could have delivered so much more”…
*I couldn’t agree more. Once the world follows Germany’s lead & disposes of all things nukes, everyone will be living a lot longer.
Jon was polite & well spoken, I suggest everyone enjoyed listening to what he had to say. I remember SM’s kind words speaking volumes about his life & crossing-over.
RIP Jon Lord !
Ciao !
September 30th, 2026 at 23:16They have only now developed and refined a surgery that can remove pancreatic cancer (without sacrificing all of the pancreas) if done early enough, i.e. before it has spread outside of the pancreatic region. Germany is actually leading the field here.
https://www.heidelberg-university-hospital.com/diseases-treatments/cancer-and-tumor-diseases/european-pancreas-center/
Jon had his pancreatic cancer diagnosed in July 2011 and died only 12 months later (not unusual for that type of disease at the time) – 15 years is a long time in cancer treatment development, things might have looked better for him today. 😑 He didn’t die of cancer in a strict sense (though he would have in the mid term in absence of a then available effective treatment), but of pulmonary embolism, a side effect of both the cancer, the body’s reaction against it, and lamentably even the chemotherapy treatment which he had to go through to contain the spread. All three raise the risk of blood clotting significantly and that is what killed Jon in the end.
September 30th, 2026 at 23:23Sorry for the typo but it seems it was understood the right way.
