Missioned Souls go for a drive
This cover of Highway Star was done by a band of siblings from the Philippines, who apparently have become a minor YouTube sensation with a following of reactions, no less. The band is called Missioned Souls and includes ICE (age 11) on the drums, Stacey (12) on rhythm guitar and lead vocals, Neisha (14) on lead guitars, Naces (16) on bass and keyboards, with the whole affair produced and engineered by their dad Secan.
That was the studio version, and if you think too much studio trickery was involved, there’s also a live performance:
Thanks to Louder Sound for the heads-up.
I watched this yesterday, a good take on HS. That young drummer raised a smile or two. Glad I have retired from drumming these days with these young guns rearing their heads and ready to kick serious butt. All good fun. Cheers

April 11th, 2025 at 09:32Amazing! I really appreciate the effort and skills of those young folks. Love the drummer!

the little motor on the drums keeps the band going nice and straight and will go a long way!
Also noteworthy is Lord’s solo played on the guitar by the girl!
April 11th, 2025 at 22:49The singer sounds like Joe Lynn Turner when he was in Purple ๐ great version of a great song by some mega stars of the future!
April 12th, 2025 at 07:17Impressive ๐

April 13th, 2025 at 03:09Missioned Souls brought the Joy and Hope for Music back to me…They are Adorable…..
April 13th, 2025 at 04:24Simply Amazing Band.—-I would love them to cover The Ocean by Led Zep. I used to be a Drummer, But Ice is something else.
April 13th, 2025 at 05:38I just wanted to say a huge thank you to the author of this article for introducing Missioned Soulds to a wider audience. I stumbled across them a year ago and I have been mesmerised by the sheer quantity of songs and genres they have amassed as covers. Highway Star took them 6 months to get it to the level you see on the studio cover. Fun fact this son g is 53 years old which happens to be the combined age of these 4 kids! Rock is safe in the hands of these 4 kids.
April 13th, 2025 at 10:06Mission Souls is a family band. The band also includes both parents Dad Secan on bass and Mom Sheena singer. These two have done an outstanding job of raising these fine kids. Dad showed them all how to play the bass then the kids chose the instruments they wanted to play. The kids have no formal training and play everything by ear. The picked up their instruments only 2-3 years ago. They play all years and genres. They chose the songs they play if everyone agrees to learn and play it. We the fans are called “Soul Mates” I hope everyone will find this band and give them the love and support they so richly deserve.
April 13th, 2025 at 12:22Amazing, this kids are truly born to Rock, if I closed my eyes it sounds like an original DP are performing. Great job Kids.
April 13th, 2025 at 13:35MS4 (just the kids) are fine rock stars! Neisha did both solos in their opening act for White Lions last Feb 8th. You may want to check that one too. Stacey is a legit vocalist with the same voice timbre as mom Sheena. Naces, the eldest is a killer base player. Their cover of Hysteria by Muse proved it. Sheโs also an accomplished keyboard player. What can I say about my man Ice. Heโs been killing the drums since he was 5 years old. Missioned Souls are now writing their own original songs. Mom Sheena has a few originals on YouTube, Chains is one of them. They will blow up here very soon!
April 14th, 2025 at 09:16Gee that is young, five years and already drumming. I suppose we could go further with that and ponder the possibility of Ice hearing music when he was still in his mom’s womb. Then when he appeared he was raring to go, ‘where are those drum sticks’ and then he gets straight into it, ha ha ha. Good luck to him he is a good drummer. Cheers.
April 14th, 2025 at 10:23WOW ๐ Rock music will never die. Outstanding performance.
April 14th, 2025 at 16:53I would like to see The Chief listening to this ๐
Keep playing and rocking, kids!
Simply GREAT! All the trimmings from the original. DP will be in deep thought about what the hell did we do
