Après Vous

Opening with Après Vous instead of a staple tune on this tour was certainly a ballsy move on the part of the band. Here’s a good one, from Regensburg on October 25:

There’s more where it came from.

Thanks to Marco290991 for an excellent recording and for sharing it.

Great link – accesses almost all of the concert, and decent quality. Saw the band in London 16/October, the new numbers sound brilliant. Time for another album? Cheers.

What is wrong with Gillan? Strange kind of shoes?

I thought it was an ELP gig at first with Mars the Bringer of War intro! Seriously though, this is one of the better tracks off the latest album. A nice four piece the band has morphed into & to beam Don Airey in from some other gig somewhere is a good idea. That would save on flight costs & manage to keep the running costs of the band down a little!
Man I am finding harder by the day to see Ozzy & Gillan & other lead vocalists looking frail. They are looking & no doubt feeling older! What about Lemmy eh? It has all caught up with him also it seems. He now owns an exercise bike allegedly!
Sheesh! Ho hum, I am getting older also, woe is me! Cheers.

Love this song too! Middle section has a very similar feel to “Castle Full of Rascals” from Purpendicular but keeps that lovely mellow groove going much longer.

    One of my favorites.

When I first heard “NOW What?!” it was a “nothing” track buried late in the album; but now I love it.

Great tune. The last new song they opened with was Silver Tongue which was awesome!

So great to be able to see a show I was at in full, thanks so much for that!

If only someone had filmed the first show in Regensburg in 1999. I´ll never forget that one! Back then they opened with a few bars of The Boys Are Back In Town seguing directly into Pictures Of Home, no big video screens, no intro tape, no dropping curtain and no fancy backround effects and Jon Lord. Those were very different times indeed, how much time has passed! They even replaced Black Night with 7th Heaven from Abandon for the encore.

I guess them opening with Apres Vous is the first time they open with a new song since Silver Tongue in 2004(I think before that they only opened with a rather recent song with Ted The Mechanic for a short period in 1999), right?

Also, is this the first tour they dropped Highway Star or (now) what?

It is great to see them open with a new track. I would have preferred ‘Out of Hand” (I stated this elsewhere after first hearing NOW WHAT). The song was made for it. The heavy, lengthy keyboard intro that builds and develops, which then kicks in with such force. PURFECT! Instead of the recorded “Mars the Bringer of War” intro, the band should be on stage behind the curtain while Don Airey plays and builds on that intro up until the curtain drops and the band kicks in full force with the song….

Can you feel it???? Man, that would be “out of hand”!

@5. yep IG needs to take care of himself and shorten the tours.Vocalist put out and use more energy during a show. I don’t see any classic band work harder than these guys. As for the boots? At least IG is not out there wearing saggy butt pants trying to look 18 yrs. old : )

I thing they should open with a simple song. They should do the intro showing a slideshow fr.o.m. The bands past, get the audience in the right mood, then when Ian begins to sing a single spotlight should be on him. After the first refrain when the song begins to rock the hole stage brightens up and we see the whole band in full flight. That would be an opener! And a brave one to start with!

    Apres Vous” classic with NW?!
Typical DP sound, powerful, perfect instrumetalne share, in the second part of the song dominant, perfect bass Roger Glover, Don and Steve duel.

Gillan’s boot a result of tendon problems from skiing, from my understanding. It’ll probably flare up the rest of his life, no real big issue, just annoying.
