The Talking Gib’rish Tour
Ian Gillan will undertake an extensive spoken word tour of Britain in the spring of 2027, dubbed as the Talking Gib’rish Tour. And we mean extensive: 24 dates in a month, visiting many nooks and crannies of the island.
The Talking Gib’rish Tour will offer fans a rare opportunity to hear behind-the-scenes stories from Ian in his own words…candid, humorous, and unfiltered.
Ian said, “I am quivering with anticipation at the prospect of embarking on my first ever public speaking engagements…The Talking Gib’rish Tour, in April/May 2027. I’ll be covering a lot of ground, from my early days in Hounslow to whatever might have happened on the latest World Tour with my beloved Deep Purple…and maybe something funky in-between. After 65 years on the road, there will be stories about some of the fascinating and sometimes magical events and people that I’ve encountered along the trail.
It’s going to be a blast!”
Ticket presales start at 10:00am on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, (check Caramba! for any further details), with general sales open on Friday, June 26th.

The fainting Danish lady appears again, will she or won’t she, that is the question. A good pensioner retirement option for Mr Gillan, as it has been for many other golden oldies. Some of them that play an instrument can add songs which is much better than all gibberish. But still, Gillan is a narrator in many ways, so I doubt he will be short of words. Will there be a ‘meet and greet’? Will Karin be able to get out at least one word before she collapses in front of her supreme deity. Stay tuned folks, same bat time, same bat channel.

Still, a shame he doesn’t bring a guitar player with him yes…
Or even a tour with Roger (a great great storyteller himself) would be a treat…maybe one day, when theyll get old 😉

There’s a splat! ahead of Ian G on this tour and/but(t) he doesn’t know it yet, but this lady is gonna provide it to him, question is only how early in the tour this would happen. ‘Cuz one thing is sure – she’ll be humming “Don’t let go… Don’t let go, ohhh nooo… Don’t let go that coffee cuppa!…. You’ll never see him again” 😛 and from then on they will live happy forever as =1, in a new, jointed metaphysical state! Yeah, yeah, yeah… I tell you no lies!

I think I’ll go and see this …theres a few dates near me …but, if you’re watching Ian …we have loads of places in Exeter that would be perfect for this type of thing …Phoenix club , Exeter corn Exchange, couple of little theatres ….it would be nice if you could get to your friends in the South West …and you wouldn’t have far to drive home ( assuming you still have your place in Lyme of course !)

June 24th, 2026 at 14:00I have seen footage of IG fronting a band with a guitar … in some holiday like setting I think it was. And didn’t he even play a bit with Gillan too? So he might be able to do it. But given the announcement it doesn’t sound like it will happen, there’s no mention of songs. Could join forces with Steve Morris again as well … little Dreamcatcher stuff …
Does anyone know how Ian’s guitar skills are? Does he play a little piano too? Not unlike RB he does not seem to write songs all by himself. While DC or RG can easily write songs, tune, lyrics and all and even play most instruments – as a lot of musicians actually are able to – IG and RB seem to need assistance in songwriting.
I doubt this show will come to Germany but we’ll wait and see.

June 24th, 2026 at 14:52I would love to see Blackmore’s Spoken Word, Q & A tour. That man, regardless if he’s aware or not, is not just a brilliant guitarist, but also a brilliant story-teller.
Almost all of his later interviews are joy and fun to watch. Calm, soft-spoken, low-and-deep baritones, good tempo, animatic body movements mixed with ingredients like endless dry humors and sarcasm, interesting historical context. Plus Candice by his side who always love to tease him at every chance. It will make precious and entertaining show, fans would love to ask many things

He can also be seen playing Ritchie’s Strat on the inside of the MH sleeve and there are pics from the Cher Kazoo and IGB era with him playing an acoustic guitar too. Whether he can still play guitar today, I don’t know: He mentioned years ago that his hand arthritis did not allow him to play the congas anymore, it might have curtailed his guitar playing too.
That said: Modern day Purple’s music is way too complex (PROOOOOOOG!!!) for him to strum those songs alone on an acoustic guitar – he would definitely not be Francis Rossi doing In My Chair.

Andre’s link at the end of posting #10 is not corroborated by previous statements of The Man in Black:
I remember an interview where he said that he had invited physically challenged/special needs fans to his backstage area and had wanted to treat them with the catering food, he himself wasn’t hungry. When he saw the food brought spoiled with ketchup, he became enraged, ran to the backstage area of the rest of the band and yelled: “Gillan, did you do this?!” and before even waiting for an answer threw the spaghettis at him. Ian, totally flabbergasted, just replied: “Ritchie, I had nothing to do with your food.” Blackmore continued in the interview that he later found out that Ian had indeed been innocent and that he felt guilty about it.
I don’t know what’s true or not. Ian Gillan messing with food strikes me as out of character though. I think he preferred putting Ritchie on the spot in his presence to aggravate him, not those juvenile practical jokes Ritchie fancied doing to people who could not retaliate in kind. The alternative depiction also casts a better light on Ritchie who was not offended because of food served to himself, but to fans of his, he felt understandably embarrassed. And an act like that actually sounds a lot like Ritchie, he likes to be the gracious nobleman around his serfs handing out gifts.
One question lingers though: Who then put the ketchup on Ritchie’s pasta?

I’m pretty sure the Spaghetti story goes something like ….someone was preparing Spaghetti for Ritchie …Gillan saw it and asked if it was Blackmores food ? ..yes …so Gillan poured tomato sauce all over it ( knowing Ritchie hates ketchup ) …upon receiving the food , Ritchie went berserk…confronted Gillan …and shoved the plate in his face …and the 2 nearly came to blows …I hope that helps …if not , that’s 10 minutes of my life that I’ll never get back ! Lol
Anyway , I’m pretty sure all that’s on DVD …gillans journey in rock or something….I’m pretty sure Jon lord witnessed it and narrates it ….and I’m pretty sure it was from Birmingham 1993 ….and I am absolutely positive that I was there ( but didn’t see any Spaghetti! )

June 24th, 2026 at 22:28Unless you witness someone playing a little basic guitar here and there or even keyboards at times, you would remain doubtful as to their ability on those instruments. Sometimes you occasionally see a singer with a geetar, but is it plugged in or connected. The mind doth boggle. It is a ‘busking’ sort of thing with certain musicians, from their heyday when much younger. Do they continue to strum a couple of ‘cheap’ chords as they continue on their musical journey. It also depends on the music itself, what would ‘their’ music or what they have been involved with sound like stripped back to the bare bones. Cheers.

June 30th, 2026 at 19:29Coverdale simply subjugated himself to what he perceived to be prevailing tastes in the 80s – he said himself at one point that he was “competing with Bon Jovi“. It was intentional, not lack of ability. But I’m with you, I prefer the Tony Edwards era WS too.
Compared to Ian Gillan who will basically try anything once, twice if he likes it, DC is ultra-conservative in his musical tastes and very entrenched. He has basically never left the late 80s at all.
