Incidentally, far too little credit is given to theses four relative unknowns who backed RJD expertly, but also unfortunately only in a rather shortlived fashion …

A penny for Jon’s thoughts while he was playing this. ☝️😎

@1: It’s a mark of their modest good nature that they agreed to do it, and of their talent that they did it so well, but, yes, Jon was underemployed!

It’s ok, even Dio has said that the song is banal (and the silly synth melody was Jimmy Bain’s idea, much to the initial incredulity of RJD who didn’t think he was serious about it), but Dio fans took a liking to that song, as a band you cannot really determine what people will like —> SOTW.

I thought 4/5 of DP backing the little man lightened up the mood at the time and did not mind it at all. The song is kinda naff though. That said, Jon’s pumping organ in the verses added something to it.

I think my favorite Dio song is actually Egypt …

which is of course stylistically Dio-drawing-by-numbers-Heaven & Hell, but somehow he pulled it off (again).

My late wonderful Dog Monte loved Rainbow! His favorite songs were Long Live Sausage Rolls, Ham in the Silver Saucepan, and Fetch the Mainbone. Purple wise, it’s Bonebringer!! One time I caught him smoking catnip listening to Pink Floyd’s Bark Side of the Bone album. 🙂
