Basically, a groupie

Candice Night talks to INDIEPOWER_TV from the (now familiar) her living room about meeting Ritchie Blackmore, becoming a lyric writer for Rainbow, importance of the creative freedom, having a cancer surgery while on tour with Rainbow, and many other things. Some of these we have already heard, others are new.

Thanks to Uwe for the heads-up.

    Ritchie was persistent against the advice of doctors that his wife gets a biopsy – as usual good instincts the man. Hearing the bad news while touring in Europe in 2016 can’t have been easy.

    Ritchie and Candice live on Long Island. The band Dream Theater are also from Long Island and I think they admire Blackmore a lot. E.g. they once covered Songs like Perfect Strangers and Stargazer and of course the whole Album Made in Japan.
    Does anyone of you in this Forum know, if there is or has ever been a Connection beetween Dream Theater Musicians and Ritchie or Candice?

    Candice is such a positive person. Every interview with her is very entertaining, brings a smile to my face.
    Plus, a new Blackmore’s Night album in the future? Hooray!

    Martin @3:

    don’t think so. by the time Ritchie moved to Long island and started scowering local clubs for musicians, Dream Theater already had a major label album out and a video in MTV rotation.

    Purple family connections are numerous, just not to Ritchie/Candice. Steve Morse has played with Rudess, Portnoy, and Petrucci in various projects. Rudess stood in for Don Airey at a Purple gig once. Sherinian has played with Glenn Hughes. Bruce Payne was credited on a couple of DT albums in the 90s (I never figured out what was the story there). in a recent interview, Steve Morse mentions that he is sharing management with DT.

    #3 Martin:

    Dream Theater didn’t just play PS once, but before they recorded it on the magnificent A Change of Season, they played it on many dates on the Awake tour.

    @5 Dream Theater used to be the *other* band managed by Thames Talent (Bruce Payne).

    I thought that if you live on a relatively small island and come from a similar genre, you might know each other privately. But maybe Ritchie, who is known to be introverted, doesn’t want that. I mean, the US is such a huge country, it’s a coincidence that people like that live together on this island.

    @8:

    The “small island” in question is 200 km end-to-end, and has a population of 8 million. I’ve been to countries that are smaller 😉

    Right! And Nick personally walked it all!!

    I never got farther while I lived there in 1988 than walking on a Saturday from the southern tip of Manhattan all the way up to where NYC ends in the north. Took me a whole day (it’s only 22
    kilometers , but I did a lot of sightseeing while on the way), but it gave you a real sense of Manhattan. All the New Yorkers at work thought I was crazy and saw my life end in the Bronx at the latest 😂, but the only sign of violence I saw was a roadkill dead raccoon way up north. That was the first time I came up close with a raccoon, these days they live in my garden and in the rafters under my roof, darn Yank immigrants! 🤣
