Looking in the mirror

Roger Glover was interviewed for Brazil’s Rádio Rock. The questions seem a bit contrived, so Roger is trying to make the best of it. See for yourselves.

Thanks to Blabbermouth for the heads-up.

Well, the most interesting information of the interview is a new album next year with McBride.

Nice & easy-going interview I thought. And the people in South America know how to get the most out of a concert too, as they love their Rock shows. The band & audience are in for a glorious time !

    Peace !

Yes,Roger is a very patient man.
Language barriers, bad connections, and an interviewer who knows next to nothing about the band. A perfect storm.
I hope the new album doesn’t land too deep into 2024.

I know there is way to prove or document it, but Deep Purple must have played more concerts than just about any other band (not counting bar bands).

“Definitely epic”, “awesome”, “incredible”, “amazing” – oh my, straight from the youtube/tiktok influencer international dictionary of anodyne adolescent adjectives. The interviewer(ess) is probably 19 years old, has possibly once heard the SOTW riff at a party as a sample over a dance track and is now diligently ticking the boxes of her “10 things you can ask any old band anytime” cue sheet.

To her credit, she tries to be nice and attentive and so does Roger who long ago should have received the Nobel Peace Prize for his patience and general well-meaning and -doing within and outside of DP – shall we start a petition #Roger-for-the-Nobel-Peace-Prize”? And you can’t expect a 19-year-old (as arrogantly presumed by an boring old fart curmudgeon like me!) to be aware of DP or every radio station to have someone available who is a bit more knowledgeable. There is no bad PR, only PR after all. And isn’t it consoling that the Welsh hippie bassist that helped out impromptu on a singer audition of DP in 1969 is still being interviewed for that same band 54 years later? And touring the world?

Worth listening just for the info that they are writing and recording profusely. Muito obrigado!

@ 7 – I wish you hadn’t said that Tommy, now we are all going to be in for it big time, ha ha ha, Cheers. @ 6 – I wouldn’t have even given the interviewer that higher an accolade, having ever listened to Smoke??? To me it sounded like she was handed a 2 line Bio on DP about 30 seconds before the mike was switched on. I couldn’t listen to it. She was trying hard & good luck to her. Cheers.
