Rescheduled Shows – Unconfirmed!

In what seems like a remarkable recovery period, two of the Swedish shows cancelled last week appear to have been rescheduled for early July.
The shows being listed are for Gothenburg on July 1st and Stockholm on July 2nd.
Please be aware these are as yet unconfirmed by the management, so buyer beware.

Well done to Pär Holmgren for finding the listings.

The gig at Liseberg, Gothenborg is now confirmed by the venue…

    What about Horsens, Denmark?!?

I hope that means that Paicey is recovering well ! God Bless him !

But at the same time, I can’t really think about the current Deep Purple line up when there’s all this activity going on on the Rainbow field. I must admit I am way more excited with Ritchie playing Hard Rock again then anything related to DP right now….

It doesn’t take long at all. Within a week or so of a T.I.A, the blood pressure tablets are doing their job & the brain & body are becoming a healthy working machine once more. Just eat healthy food, try not to drink much alcohol & don’t go overdoing it & you’ll be fine. Toodle pip!.

I think playing drums for 2 hours in a rock band might be considered overdoing it!!!!

@4 saturn, aaahh… but then you’re not Ian Paice, are you?!. In any case, a show doesn’t have to run for 2 hours… & Ian could have a rest as the others play extended solos, etc. There’s more than one way to sing a song you know!!!. Smiles to ya.

We should be thankful that concerts are still scheduled and think about how fast things can be over. A stroke, no matter how severe, is something serious. To me without Ian Paice there’s no Purple, he’s an unique drummer.

Hope Ian Paice is recovering well and that the rescheduling has complete approval of the medical team looking after him!

Make my words….Ian Paice will be still playing drums in his grave.

Here´s a short review I submitted to the review-section but it hasn´t appeared there. So here goes: Stood at the very front at the rescheduled gig in Liseberg friday 1st of july. Here´s a short summary. This is the fifth time I see the band. Seen Mark2 once, Mark3 twice and Mark7 once. First of all I´m extremely impressed with the Purps for the sheer stamina of commiting to being a band. They are enjoying themselves on stage. Lots of smiles and eye contact both with us and between the bandmembers. Paice is playing real good and there´s nothing obvious to tell that the man had a, albeit minor but still, stroke less than a month ago! I´ve been a pro-musician worldwide for 40 years and I can´t begin to imagine what goes through Paices head when he steps out on stage so shortly after such an experience. The feeling of uncertainty when you start doing what you´ve done for so long but with the knowledge that your brain is in a different place. Respect! And the Paice/Glover shuffle-groove was right on the spot. No real surprises in the setlist but Bloodsucker was real fun to hear and I hadn´t noticed the changed solo-turnaround in Strange Kinda before. Nice touch. And it´s great to hear the band playin´ with the songforms, relying on musical/visual cues, in true Purple-tradition. Airey really shines both in the songs and solistically – ABBA-quotes in abundance 😉 Morse, as always, plays amazing but I can´t help but wonder if he had some issues with righthand pain. His relentless alternate-picking-technique wasn´t really there at times. Gillan sings really good. Of course he´s singing in a different octave some of the time – most notably in Space Truckin´- but his voice is aging well. Glover is a bedrock and his output and energy on stage is joy to behold. All in all a band that delivers the goods with authority, energy and playfulness. Thank you gentlemen! Hope to see you soon again!

Tack Anders för en fin recension! Intressant att hora vad en musiker tycker.
