Schubert in Rock on Austrian TV

The Schubert in Rock project, led by Austrian musician Klaus Schubert, performed in Innsbruck on December 6. It and featured quite a few members of the Purple family with Don Airey on keyboards, Neil Murray on bass, Klaus Schubert himself on guitars, and Bernhard Welz on drums; with vocal duties shared between Tony Martin, Joe Lynn Turner and Doogie White.

Austrian public broadcaster ORF has a report about the project. You can view it online at orf.at (the report starts around 1 hour mark into the show and lasts for 3 minutes).

Thanks to Andrey Gusenkov for the info.

I watched the 2 minute performance. Quite a catchy tune and also very Rainbow/Purple sounding. Weird to see JLT standing next to Doogie in the background as back-up singers. Who is this dude on lead vocals? He has a familiar voice. Yeah, I know. Tony Martin. He looks great with the hat. That’s what us balding longhairs do when we wish to grow old gracefully instead of putting on a ‘hair hat’, like some others I won’t mention. He sounds great too. I presume they will trade off singing lead throughout the album. I hope somebody recorded the whole show on the 6th and it shows up somewhere. Looks like another great Purple related album on the horizon. 2014, a great year for Purple fans…..

Good to see & hear Tony Martin again, I always liked him in Sabbath & he had a very tough job to do whilst in that band. It is a farce that he is not ‘recognised’ in regards to their ‘history’ at times! Man, JLT would have been loathing it as a mere ‘backup’ singer wouldn’t he? Sheeeeesh! Now that did look ‘strange’ in a way, I wonder who had the deed of informing him, “Joe, you go & stand over there & come in when we tell you to”! No doubt he gets his chance somewhere else! Cheers.

As often the austrian tv-station ORF prefers to send a lot of other waste instead of spending 1 or 2 minutes more for broadcasting the full song.

Nice to see that “in rock” is stil very valuable as a trademark. It sales. We are waiting for following shows:
    Come taste the Mozart
    Made in Bach
    Shades of Chaikowsky
Sorry for being that ironic, but all this “former members of DP,and R” should stand on their own leggs by now. They are somehow stil eating from Blackmores hand (another proof of his greatnes)Just look at the guitarplayer.I mean Hellooooo… third rate Blackmore copy.
Love you all,and Happy New Year
    Cheers!

This are the kind of singer/musicians that without the great ones on their sides, sound very common.Nothing impressive, from the link that Tracy forwarded and I don’t know where the hell is clip in that 2 hour Austrian tv.This is like I have all day to find a clip where the ever annoying JLT is on.please !
