Purple Daisies strike again
The Dead Daisies have announced a second show featuring their reunion with Glenn Hughes. It is scheduled for October 2, 2026, in the Los Angeles area.
What started as a one-night-only event at Chicago’s Arcada Theatre in May has become something much bigger! Following an incredible fan response and overwhelming demand, The Purple Daisies continue to celebrate the music of The Dead Daisies and Deep Purple.
Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple) will join Doug Aldrich (Whitesnake/Dio), Tommy Clufetos (Black Sabbath) and David Lowy (Red Phoenix/MINK), delivering a thrilling 50/50 split set kicking off with The Dead Daisies favourite tracks including Holy Ground, Unspoken and Long Way to Go followed by iconic Deep Purple Classics like Burn, Mistreated, and Highway Star just to name a few.
Hughes’ electrifying performances of the Deep Purple catalog have brought audiences to their feet worldwide, and paired with the raw energy and firepower of The Dead Daisies, these unique events promise – unforgettable nights for both devoted fans and the wider Classic Rock community.
Tickets are on sale. Caveat: at the time of this writing (June 10) the show is yet to be confirmed on Glenn’s site.

I never quite understood why he left them in the first place, BCC will never turn into a proper working band and Glenn’s solo career has missed the train for re-catapulting him to stardom long ago. And with Doug Aldrich he has a great guitarist as a foil in the DD.
Having a multimillionaire behind you, content to play rhythm guitar, yet anything but miserly providing rock royalty amenities to the band members ain’t too bad either once you are a septuagenarian, there is nothing wrong with enjoying being spoiled – do the smart thing, Glenn!

The first DD album.with Glenn exited me, the second one never got a third spin here at Max towers.
But I agree, Uwe. I would have liked to see GH stay a Daisy too…why not play their best songs, a few DP numbers, even a tune or too by Trapeze or his solo output and the occasional cover? Great fun, good money.

But then they release a record that was from a show that we did on the last tour. They released the record one week after mine, and I’m, like, ‘I don’t even know what’s going on right now.’ So Michael and I are, like, ‘Are we still employed by The Daisies?’ ”
When it was just one-off show, we could guess it’s a peaceful reunion, the band having fun. But after The Dead Daisies add a new date (2 October) date with Glenn – albeit still in the shape of 2-parts setlist concert, TDD and Purple – maybe there’s something more than meets the eye?

July 12th, 2026 at 16:47David Lowy seems to me like a gracious and generous boss – you don’t know how good you have it with someone like that until you end up with someone without these traits. The Dead Daisies will never run out of money and always be in the position to hire the best people. What’s not to like?
And it’s not like Glenn’s solo career is gilded.
With the Dead Daisies, Glenn is the star , with BCC he is the has-been 70s stadium rocker begging the otherwise busy lead guitarist to devote more time to the band.
July 12th, 2026 at 19:43Steve F, I have nothing against Corabi or his voice, I’ve seen him a couple of times with the DD. The man is after all a self-confessed Mk III enthusiast, Stormbringer as one of his personal top ten albums and all that. He’s also co-responsible for the best Mötley Crüe album ever.
You’re right that Glenn’s writing, singing and bass playing very much puts a stamp on things. But I don’t really mind that. Other than Stevie Wonder, Glenn has never been good at copying anyone you could say! 😂
Why David Lowy seems to be hung up on Glenn I don’t know, maybe it’s a trophy thing, in 1974 he was 20 years old and perhaps a raging DP fan, so he’s now chuffed to have him in the band. Just like he bought himself a Spitfire Mk VIII warbird, he now has the DP Mk III/IV bassist/singer to go with it.
I’m not criticizing any of this, Lowy can do what he likes with the family wealth and buying a Spitfire and a Purple member has more personal appeal to me than a chalet in Switzerland or a Ferrari. Hell, if I had the money (and a pilot license) I’d buy myself a Focke-Wulf Fw 190 too and resurrect Jon Lord’s DNA to have the then produced clone play keyboards in my band. 🤣
But I get it that you as someone who likes the Corabi line-up DD are not over the moon with Glenn taking his place.
July 13th, 2026 at 12:57What I don’t understand is why David Lowy doesn’t simply hire both singers. Together with Glenn and John, they could play songs from various phases of the Daisies’ history and also deliver authentic renditions of the Deep Purple tracks from the Mk III and Mk IV eras. After all, the contrasting vocal styles of David and Glenn were precisely what made that particular period so special. It surely can’t be a matter of money; it’s likely down to the rock stars’ egos. With Doug Aldrich and Brian Tichy, Lowy has the right personnel to achieve something truly great. That said, for the Purple tracks, I would still prefer a proper Hammond player. I could—quite selflessly—put myself forward for that role 🙂

My hunch is though that Glenn is the guilty party, I would imagine that Corabi would likely be chuffed to sing together with him on a track like Hold On! Glenn has said that he doesn’t really feel much like singing with a second lead vocalist anymore (ironically, I think most vocalists have more to fear from Glenn than he has from them).
Also agree with supplemental keyboards – didn’t even the keyboarder from GnR play with an early version of the DD? As for you taking the slot, go for it, just one additional question: You do dress well, right?

For an aging rocker, the DD are not a bad place to be. And who knows, maybe it won’t be too long before a keyboarder travels in David Lowy’s Gulfstream or Bombardier private jet too. Are Oliver or Adam Wakeman’s schedules really that busy?
