Time to go
German site metal1.info has a new interview with Glenn Hughes. He talks about various aspects of his career — joining Purple, working with Iommi, frustration with the scarce touring schedule of Black Country Communion, etc. Here’s his take on leaving Dead Daisies:
Let’s move on. Dead Daisies. You left the band in 2023 after having recorded two albums together. How did that split happen? Why did you leave?
I left because, number one, they asked me not to do anything else but DEAD DAISIES. And I get offers to do things all the time, and I’d have to decline. But I met with Joe about doing “V”, and it was either continue with the Dead Daisies or do “V”, so I decided to do “V”. We’re all good, we’re friends with everybody. I left very kindly, it was all cool, no problems. It was very, “Thank you, it was great. Now it’s time for me to go.”

I think I preferred his work with the Daisies to the one with BCC. Glenn‘s angry bass with the primal, almost punkish rhythm guitar of David Lowy was really something, I had never heard Glenn play with a dedicated rhythm guitar player before, it sounded great, I wish they would release a live recording with him.
June 5th, 2025 at 03:52Oh my, if he keeps that accusing attitude towards Bonamassa re not investing enough time into BCC touring, I fear for them splitting up again before the next concerts even take place! 😂 I‘m no Bonamassa fan, but he never indicated that he would throttle his solo career for BCC, he just didn‘t.
Which Glenn didn‘t want to do for The Dead Daisies either, just sayin‘ … 😑
June 5th, 2025 at 04:12@ 2… Uwe, i wonder why Joe Bonamassa never invited Glenn to sing or play bass on any of his solo albums. Then again who has ?
June 5th, 2025 at 11:49Saw him with the Daisies in Bristol and it sounded horrible. Bass was too high and in combo with the rhythm gtr you could barely hear Aldrich. If I didn’t think they’d end with Burn I would have walked out!
June 5th, 2025 at 13:33Liked the Dead Daisies before Glenn and am glad Corabi has returned to the fold. The albums Glenn made with them sounded like solo albums, which often are hit and miss.
June 5th, 2025 at 13:42Timmi, not true, on the Mistreated-template “Heartbreaker” (penned by Paul Rodgers in Free days) on his album Dust Bowl Joe B actually did:

Glenn, as I’m sure you are aware, is btw the one DP member with the most sessions to his credit, far ahead of even Don Airey and Joe Lyn Turner who are next. Prolific ain’t the word, you hear him in the most unexpected places …

June 6th, 2025 at 07:25Max and I were separated at birth! 😂
June 6th, 2025 at 14:22I really liked Glenn’s work with the Daisies, especially the second album, but I’m glad that he decided to move on and keep the doors open to any number of additional musical possibilities if for no other reason than the fact that, as an aficionado, I’ll have the opportunity to enjoy more output from him at this stage in his career which, (and let’s just be honest here), likely has far fewer years remaining ahead than have been already logged behind…
June 6th, 2025 at 17:35I sometimes got rid of commercials , driving me nutz, at YouTube.
Does Uwe have a liasion that he manages to introduce them back again?
June 7th, 2025 at 15:22@ 6….Uwe, thanks for the info. I have that album and didn’t realize that, dummy me. ¯\(°_o)/¯
