A ‘stereo’ remix listening party, Not Atmos??????? Good to see and to hopefully hear. I thought Atmos was the new super deity, the ultimate listening experience. Steven must be slipping in his reverence. I do wish at times I wasn’t so cynical, Uwe has taught me that. Shame on him. Cheers.

    This is something else 🍀💜🤩🥳

@1: YouTube doesn’t support Atmos. When Wilson arranges listening parties for his own releases, he does them in cinemas and Atmos capable recording studios.

Yes I know about the YouTube restriction sound wise, I was just being a little silly about seeing the word ‘stereo’ mentioned. Everything seems to be Atmos the days and I was cynically thinking, ‘does stereo still exist?’. Steve Wilson does place a lot of importance in keeping the stereo original mix in his various remixes, so good to see that. I would rise out of my bed to listen to this out here in Australia, but that would have to be around 4.30 am in the middle of winter. Even Karin wouldn’t get up that early to listen to Purple, would she? But then again…………Cheers.

Unbelievable, I wake this morning with my left ear blocked, now I am in mono mode. Symbolic I suppose and karma for all my luddite criticisms. Fate has its way of dealing with us mortals. Now for the arduous warm water and syringe technique, again. I blame Deep Purple of course, who else, I can’t blame Uwe for this, surely. I suppose I should add Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin and even Uriah Heep. Fifty two years of sonic assault. Or maybe it is a simple case of having to listen to all and sundry here at times, all that northern hemisphere noise that gets in. Mono mode it is for now, sorry Steve Wilson, you know how it is. Cheers.

Between us old men, Herr MacGregor: Daily warm showers with subsequent gentle use of Q-tips (for use with + in orifices above the neck) keep things from gooing up up there! 👂 This can often be combined with washing your hair, making the process throughly economical and multi-beneficial. Male hygiene has been a taboo subject for too long. 😇

Sigh, those squalid island living conditions …

    It’s definitely Uwe’s fault!

In your place, I would listen to the original MiJ with your mono ear, you would hear the counterphases that cut and add parts of songs, and it’s an exciting experience that I had when I listened to the cassette on my Walkman and left the headphone mini-jack halfway out!

Audio engineers simulate mono in the recording studio for compatibility, while you can do it naturally, I wouldn’t miss this opportunity!

    I listened last night,thru my 80s stereo,via YouTube. Only 2 speakers…
RG is definitely upped in the mix,and there’s a bit more sizzle to Paicey’s cymbals.
Gotta say,it was great to listen to the full,76 min masterpiece again. The first time in decades for me.
I’d forgotten how Lazy just swings along, how Child in Time soars.
Then there’s the growl of Jon’s Hammond on Space Truckin’ and the blues power of Strange Kind of Woman.
Absolutely wonderful album,no matter how advanced or ancient your sound system is.

@ 6 – and here I was thinking that we should never stick anything hard into an orifice. I will keep with my more gentle and caressing technique, thanks Uwe. The ‘syringe’ I use does look like it could be used for something else, but I can assure it hasn’t. It is designed solely for inner ear cleaning ONLY. Much more delicate and safer on the inner ear, it is a flushing technique, once the wax isn’t an obstacle anymore, I can then feel that and then stop (much to the displeasure of my inner ear, it wants me to keep going for some reason). For any other problematic health concerns regarding orifices, please contact Uwe, there at THS. Cheers.

@ 7- thanks Fla76, I will give that a try. I did attempt to have a listen yesterday morning to the MIJ stream, but I was too annoyed with my left ear being blocked (even though I could feel it going that way a few days before). Plus the benefit as you can read @ 6, is that we now have a health consultant in the orifice (office) department to liaise with, ain’t that a grand thing, he he he. Cheers.

Most tellingly, the bad ear of the drummer is on the hi-hat side – say no more!

Try vegetable oil, that softens up what’s clogged too.
