Well it was the *only* purple gig I'd been to but it was one of the best of any band I've seen.

Well - 'Into the Fire' riff actually.

Rest of the set list is about right for order except 'blind man' was next to last.

Boy - Steve was impressive ! ( not to say the rest weren't but.... ) Excellent sound for what is basically a medium sized sports hall, without any acoustic baffles.

High points - No One Came, Blind Man, Highway Star. Nice to see a short version of Smoke - RG digging out the old Rickenbacker bass for that one track.

'Screaming' starts with SM and RG playing acoustic 6-strings on stands for the first verse.

I'd be interested to know what Jon and/or Roger thought of the venue and the crowd - the crowd seemed to me to be full of a lot of 'casual' fans. I couldn't hear much audience reaction during songs, although all got a good reception at the end. I just got the impression that some of the more casual fans were losing the track a bit in the middle when there came a succession of new songs + some more obscure ( to them ) older songs.

Surprised ( but not too bothered ) at there being no Anya, Child in Time, Anyone's Daughter - the only slight disappointment for me was no Knockin' at your Back Door.

Those of you still to see them - enjoy the show - I'm sure you will !
