He only switched to the Ric shortly before the band all went out to Montreux, on the Lake Geneva shoreline, to make records with a mobile, they didn’t have much time.

It was a promotional stunt and they wanted to smash it all in the California Jam style of the future years!

July 16th, 2026 at 18:11Most serious artists despised the miming charade of the proverbial exposure or promotional sell. Some refused to participate, many took it as a time for a laugh and a joke, as we often see with certain songs. Just for the record I haven’t watched this, it will be too comical in many ways and embarrassing at the same time, that it had to or was thought of as a necessary part of the game. Cheers.

I gather that his first Strat from Clapton had a Tele neck. He traded it against a newer one with a Strat neck.
