Adelaide loves that Glover boy!
First up, Electric Mary put on a good show. They were well suited to open for Deep Purple. They rocked hard and showed off some good chops. Easy to get into and enjoy.
After a short break the familiar drum opening to Highway Star started and a rousing rendition it was. They were off and running and put on a great show.
A good blend of old and new songs. Things I Never Said, Fireball, SKOW, Wrong Man (a great track live), TBRO, Sometime I feel Like Screaming (a real crowd favourite, testament to just how good Purpendicular was!), No one Came, Smoke on the Water with Hush and Black Night as encores.
Steve did a great Contact Lost and Don put in a pearler of a keyboard solo.
The crowd seemed really up for this show and the whole night had a great vibe. For me personally, Roger stole the show. He did a great bass solo and generally just showed off… He was great!
They all looked to be having a good time on stage and for this long time fan it was wonderfull to see them put on such a good show that was enjoyed by a very enthusiastic crowd!
Deep Purple… Thank YOU for “all the years”
The thing is that nearley all those songs played were Blackmore song’s , he came up with those amazing riff’s . Plus you add a wonderfull guitrist like Steve & they come to life. They are here today because he was such a great guitarist. Was listening to some DP albums before the concert & couldn’t believe how good they sound all these year’s later.
There are some nice sounding MK1 songs like Mandrake Root, Emmaretta, the whole Burn album is so good, Ritchie shines on that. The concert last week was so great, i wish i could go back but it’s been & gone. Never expected it be have been that good. It’s very dissapinting though the media gave them nothing, you wouldn’t have even known they were hear . But the band looked fit , healthy relaxed & in top form. Plus Steve can play some really heavy guitar riff’s like Ritchie did , Steve is more of a live guitarist though . The Battle Rages On was so good at the concert not to mention some of the other song’s .
May 6th, 2010 at 08:16i was there with some mates and we were all totally blown away.a show we will never forget.Big Ian cant quite hit those high notes but he makes up for it with his tasty phrasing and he left nothing on that stage he gave his all and i thank him for that.As for the rest of the boys i am speechless they were absoloutely brilliant.A big cheer for electric mary they have a big future.
May 6th, 2010 at 11:33Roger Glover one of the nicest people you could ever meet. His bass solos are the best.

May 7th, 2010 at 14:30Yeah, fantastic night. I can’t believe how good the support act was, even if they were far too loud. Deep Purple’s sound was fantastic. What a treat to hear ‘The Battle Rages On’ thrown back in to the mix. I love Jon Lord just like any other Purple fan, but I was blown away by Don Airey’s chops!
May 7th, 2010 at 21:26I wish I could have followed them from city to city in Australia, but it was a struggle to brave the Adelaide concert alone as I was suffering from having just had my wisdom teeth pulled out. Oh well, next time.
Finally, thanks to the band (and management) for playing the Entertainment Centre this time. In 2006 they played a shitty stage called Thebarton Theatre with Status Quo. Tickets sold out within hours and yours truly, like many other fans, missed out.
Summing up, what a concert, what great sound and keep up the good work guys and see you next time (sooner than 4 years away I hope!)
I always place myself in front of the left side of the stage (as seen from the crowd) because this is where THE bass-man is! Roger is awsome. The energy that he and Paice but into a show is truely amazing. Nothing comes close to the DP engine room.
