What??? I think this setlist is not complite. NO WELL DRESSED GUITAR? NO RAPTURE? I can’t beleive it. Well Dressed Guitar is the kind of instrumental which ANY band would dream to have it in the setlist…. and Deep Purple didn’t play their best instrumental of all time??? silly… just silly

I think above was a festivalshow?
it’s quite common to play shorter shows at festivals.
Although I feel THEY can do whatever they like, including playing at least a 2 hour show.
I doubt it if the organisation makes trouble when a show lasts long,

I one, 10 years ago!!!!!, attendedthe ABANDON show at an open air festival.
I m not sure, but I think was a long one?
They played a lot of the album, so…?

I jus heard it kept raining in Tienen during 50% of the show and that there was a fight among the audience……

But those sounds thru the phone did sound cool.
Espescially Don Airey during Fireball and IG during TBRO.

    More reviews please…..

    @Purplepriest

In Tienen, there was no fight af far as I saw, but an older women got on stage, making a run for Ian Paice. Hèhè,… that was funny. They still got their groupies,… but they are the same as in the old days. It were the security that jumped her.

Yes,.. Tienen got roaring thunder from the sky as well as on stage. But who cares. I’ve send in my review of the show. We’ll see if it gets published.

@ David Sorry, Ian gillan was not in great form and his voice were not in great shape. From the beginning to “Perfect strangers” he was much too quiet, and you can hear and see that he has problems. The Boys are working hard and taking care of Ian. I see Deep Purple 2002 at the same place, and this was really a great show. I hope Ians has not damaged his voice for ever.

    Hi,

I was At the the Suikerrock concert in Tienen yesterday. However, it DIDN’T rain, during the show.. afterwards it was all hell that fell out of the sky :-)!
I was not aware of a fight, I thought it happend earlyer during the day. The show itself was really good, lot’s of surprises. However they didn’t played Mary Long this time. Gillan’s voice was not in his best shape, and it was very clear to me, he try’s to manage to get the ‘high’ notes correct, but without any effect, sometimes even out of tune….
Paicey and the others rocked out, and did a great job!! They’re still rocking and rolling!!

Gillan was still greatest in Abandon (listen again to bloodsucker from Abandon), Gillan was great in Concerto 1999, Gillan was still great during 2000-2002 and in Bananas, Gillan was really great on Rapture and greatest again in Gillan’s Inn 2006… But somewhere after 2007-2008 his voice began to spoil, I think. Listen to NEC 2002 show, Gillan is awesome there, then listen to Montreux 2006, he sings quite well there… But what about 2008 tour? His voice becomes more and more hoarsed… 🙁 bad…

what about hiring Ian Gillan from the band and replacing him with Coverdale, Or Hughes, or the greatest: JLT???

    :)))))) loooool it’s just joke, don’t damn me 😀

A few cigars, and a daily bottle of whiskey should cure that……………..

    Those were the days Ian

    I agree with rascal… 🙂

btw there were at least 3 or 4 ‘groupies’ and fans storming to the stage…. 🙂
I stood at the first row, and I kept a blue bruce on my face from the fight! 🙁

I’m still too tired for real comment, and besides,I have to leave for the pub now…
    cheers to you all!!!

I won’t blame Gillan for the bad voice as many people has reviewed here He turns 63 now and the tour has lasted for almost three years. I think the solution is he need some rests and sports, and revamped the set list so he could be stable on stage. HIghway star in the beginning, what do u think?

  16. 16
    Rascal says:

    A rest and some sports…..

Maybe even a ‘saline drip’ for the stage

Hey, the band were in a great festival – mood…
There was a lot of fun, beer (onstage ) and Ian’s sunglasses – everybody was happy !!
An incredible night, with fantastic music .
My favorite : Into The Fiiiiiiiiiiiireeeeeeee 🙂
I will remember years and years…

    I agree with you..always I thought
HIGHWAYSTAR must be the only one opener on stage:
it is destroyer and at beggining it could be good for Mr.Universe Gillan
