Instantly recognizable
LA’s rock radio KNAC reviews the latest release with Ian Paice — Banned from Purpendicular, and gives it 5/5:
The underlying concept of this album is the is the hypersensitive culture of our times, in which every word has to be carefully weighed up, because you mustn’t and don’t want to offend anyone, and the resulting cancel culture. Hence the title of the album: Banned. If you take away the second n and the e, you get the word that describes what it’s really about: Band.

A very good and enjoyable album. Will I dare to confess that I listen to it more than PD and GH last records?
October 13th, 2025 at 07:47Itâs a great album!
Iâd give it 7 out of 5 đ
October 13th, 2025 at 08:06#2 Glad you appreciate it, Karin. But our beloved Herr Uwe is going to say that he doesn’t like the singer⊠Anyway, this album is a gem. And it’s a pleasure to hear Paicey’s creative and smart drumming!

The other day I was at a concert with Perpendicular and of course Ian P behind the drums, and it was spectacular!
I must admit I was a tiny bit smitten with the singer, and no he certainly isnât Ian Gillan, but ohhh man he sang his heart out and gave everything he had in him đ
It was really lovely to see and hear!
I would have loved to get his autograph and to shake hands with Ian P, but to be honest: Iâm very shy in public, so I just stood far away from them and wished I was more courageous âșïž
Yes Uwe has this love-contract on Ian Gillan (you can tell how he always try to make me the devotee of Ian!) so of course no other singer will ever do!
October 14th, 2025 at 15:34Herr Hornung will do his best to give the album a fair listening, I just received it.

Uwe, its almost adorable when you talk about yourself in 3,person đ
But now Iâm confused: is it the new TS album or Perpendicularâs brilliant album Banned youâre mentioning?
October 16th, 2025 at 06:47very good snaresound, I am trying to find something else positive.
October 16th, 2025 at 09:09I feel their albums are getting better, it’s their fourth offering I think and it’s solid hard rock taht does not deny where it’s coming from but still manages to be cringe-free. And that, ladies and gentlemen, cannot be said of every Tribute band out there. Some try real hard to channel Blackmore, the dark and mystic cover designs or Dio’s lyrics – others just copy the mighty Purple … Plus: We got IP on the drums….yessss…
October 16th, 2025 at 13:11Iâm with Gerd, the album is oooookay. Sometimes the Purpleisms are so overt they border on the naive. Some chorus parts could pass for Mk I – but that was almost 60 years ago. RTWâs voice and I will never become friends, I find everything he does labored and he reminds of that terrible Warhorse singer, especially in the louder parts.
The guitarist and the bassist do mostly tasteful work. The less is said about the keyboarder, the better.
I wonât say anything about the production, these guys work on shoestring budget that cannot be fairly compared to the resources available to DP.
Moreover, Taylorâs new release comes apparently scented – I have ordered the âsweat & vanilla perfumeâ-version – which raises the question whether Purpendicularâs Banned might be available in an âIanâs hairy armpit after gigâ-version?

âMoreover, Taylorâs new release comes apparently scented â I have ordered the âsweat & vanilla perfumeâ-version â which raises the question whether Purpendicularâs Banned might be available in an âIanâs hairy armpit after gigâ-version?â
– Then I have a very good suggestion what the new Purple album would smell of!
October 17th, 2025 at 09:41(And yes, it has something to do with Ian GillanâŠ)
(And no, itâs not the smell of his feet!)
But Karin, I thought Ian has no smelly parts, he is an anointed astral being! Isnât that so, you devout Scandinavian Mary Magdalene? đ

(Yes, she sings Swedish, big effing deal, you all darn well understand each other up there!)
PS: Agnetha could sing, no two ways about it. No wonder Ritchie liked her voice so much.

âBut Karin, I thought Ian has no smelly parts,â
– I was actually thinking of his aftershave/perfume!
And no I donât understand Swedish very goodâŠ. (But this song youâre linking to I do understandâŠ)
The other day a Danish football coach was fired in Sweden, and one of the complaints were that he only would speak English with the players.
Norwegian on the other hand is almost Danish đ
Ohhhh man Agnetha was a great singer đ
But I have never seen Ian as some kind of Jesus figure! I have a notion that no normal man would like people to look at him like that đ
Have you listened to the Taylor-girl?
October 18th, 2025 at 17:17Sorry to hear the german tour has been canceled.
October 19th, 2025 at 15:35Their singer has nothing in common with IG nor DC, which is odd since theyâre supposed to be a DP tribute band. Apparently, IP’s tech plays on a couple of tracks. I believe the last two but the fact that I canât be sure says a lot about just how basic IP’s playing is on this album. But there is not much he can do with these songs. The energy level is on the floor. For absolute completists only.
October 20th, 2025 at 05:19Well Daniel, I think it is enjoyable. And Robby Thomas Walsh has got the ablility to tackle Mark II and Mark III stuff pretty good actually. He moves smoothly from Highway Star to Walking in the Shadow of the Blues in concert and even handles Child in Time with more easy than IG did the last times he did it. So it’s value for money and good fun everytime I see them. Pity the tour’s cancelled.
October 20th, 2025 at 12:01@15
Max, I have looked forward to hear Robby sing CiT, but sadly he didnât.
Hopefully if they come back to Denmark, I can make a request of that song đ
