Thanks to BraveWords for the info.

Unauthorized copying, while sometimes necessary, is never as good as the real thing
It looks like a compilation taken from Mark 5, Mark 2c, Mark 7 and their respective live albums

November 14th, 2025 at 05:17I think this came out as a CD already a while ago. I have it somewhere.
November 14th, 2025 at 05:35Finally! 😄
I really need to throw my last money after this….
No seriously, it’s ok 😊 but sadly only for those lucky people who have a dignifying turntable 😊
November 14th, 2025 at 06:22I guess taken from the albums they got rights for… countless compilations taken from those limited sources appeared over the years… oh and a lack lustre cover to match. Pointless.

November 14th, 2025 at 18:27So, all the stuff they could license from just one label, BMG that is.
November 14th, 2025 at 21:47This is a compilation of what BMG (eventually: Sony BMG) had available in rights to the Purple canon: Slaves, Battle, Stuttgart, Birmingham and Purpendicular, hence the wild/weird mix. It was a budget release as a CD and looked it too. Basically a cheapo repacking of the core of those five albums. Not a compelling purchase in any way.

November 15th, 2025 at 10:21The Sound of Vinyl had this listed Feb 25 (again 1500 purple vinyl copies).(2026 repress) Came out a few yrs ago coloured then standard black vinyl. Very odd collection and the ‘hits’ from the 2 live CD’s issued 1993. Studio tracks picked from the LP’s issued between 1990-96 with one b side ‘ slow down sister’ Mixed Bag! PJ
I’d love it if the Stuttgart show was released in its entirety on vinyl as a standalone release. A banger of a gig.

November 17th, 2025 at 22:03@8 just as Uwe says. The company with the rights to the 4 albums is beating the same old horse to death and beyond, not giving it too much artistic merit. To make things worse this period mixes 3 line-ups, getting into mix average (Slaves, and The Battle) with sky high genius (Stuttgart and Purpendicular). You can’t get a tasty meal off such mindless mash-up. Should be destined for low price bins as soon as it hits the racks.
@10 Allen, Stuttgart 1993 is a belter. Despite all the nonsense that Gillan has to say about the tour yet and again, that was one of the best gigs the band has EVER conjured in their 25 year long run… The same is with Tokyo 1973, everyone seems to remember only the demolished Budokan hall after riots, but no one brings to the attention the simple fact that the concert itself was the only night from the final tour that actually put to a shame all 3 gigs from 1972.
