Yep, we know
Classic Rock reviews the latest Made in Japan remix. Incredibly for the publication, it contains no information we haven’t known from elsewhere, and the whole review boils down to just one short paragraph:
Incredibly, Wilson has revealed subtleties hidden for more than 50 years. And with the source sets from all three nights newly remixed by Richard Digby Smith, this is Made In Japan not only expanded, but also supercharged. No edits, no overdubs, just the real deal.
The rest is available on Louder Sound (but probably not worth the bother).
MOJO’s coverage is equally disappointing. It is what it is…
I read this bullshit over hyped garbage. No overdubs??????????????? Another review that I read never even mentioned that one of the reasons that the live album is known as a ‘holy grail’ of live albums, IS because it hasn’t been messed with at all. They are trying to dress it up with all the bells and whistles and fairy floss goo. Oh well, marketing again eh. “Welcome back my friends to the show that NEVER ends, we’re glad you could attend, come inside, come inside”. “Come inside, the show’s about to start, guaranteed to blow your head apart, rest assured you’ll get your money’s worth, it’s the Greatest show in Heaven, Hell or Earth.”
August 14th, 2025 at 22:00As per usual, never breaking from tradition, that pathetic rag called Classic Rock Magazine – a.k.a. Louder Sound can’t be bothered to cover Deep Purple in any meaningful way except to trot out rehashed, warmed-up old news about the band. To be expected from that woeful excuse for alleged rock journalism….why is that you might ask!? It is truly a Zeppelin fan-boy magazine with AC/DC coming in a very close second in overall coverage, ad nauseum, month after month, year after year. What say ye Valhalla?
August 14th, 2025 at 22:18@ 2 – Hear ye DeeperPurps. Indeed the ‘quality’ of the journalism leaves a lot to be desired. However at least MIJ is being highlighted as such, better than nothing at all. Although having said that, some of the writers these days are comical and embarrassing. I seriously think that they would have been better off giving it to a 12 year old schoolboy to do as his latest school project. He would be more mature and sensible no doubt in his choice of words.

My god, you guys are strict with your journalistic standards!
A band which was last trendy, fashionable and within the Zeitgeist more than fifty years ago and has the reputation of releasing live albums with old material all the time rereleases for the third time a complete version of its first live album from 1972. If you’re not a DP über-fan and did not have your first sexual advances disrupted by your partner’s (choose the gender you’re comfortable with) request “Do you have a record other than Made in Japan you could perhaps put on?“, then this is not exactly earthshaking news. To most people, ‘Atmos‘ sounds like the name of a new MARVEL supervillain. 😂

I‘m happy they mentioned it at all and reviewed it benevolently. You know, I could imagine someone grown up with today‘s music saying a lot less nice things about 20 odd minutes of Space Truckin‘! 🤗☝🏼😫
August 15th, 2025 at 20:49Att. Uwe #4 – Classic Rock Magazine and Neil Jeffries are golden names in rock music media. We are allowed higher expectations. This was probably just a brief write-up designed to gather clicks while we wait for the proper album review. Either way, it’s quite a bit pointless.
August 16th, 2025 at 10:07@ 3 – The abbreviation of the word ‘Atmosphere’ was being used in British comedy back in the 1980’s. Well that is when I first noticed it and it most probably was used earlier by someone else. The Young Ones tv comedy. Cheers

Ahahahahahah
here you really made me laugh in heaven!
I’ve never used Purple in intimacy with girls, a mix cassette with Whitesnake, Van Halen, Def Leppard, Journey, Reo Speedwagon, Europe, Skid row, Mr.Big, Extreme, Warrant, White lion, Cinderella and other 80’s glam/AoR groups created the right atmosphere!
#5 Rasmus:
I think you hit the nail on the head, this is just a filler article in the middle of August while they wait for a real article about listening to the whole LP.
anyway it’s true, they always have a few sarcastic words towards Purple here and there, if instead of MiJ there had been the twentieth reissue of Physical Graffiti mixed in Atmos by Wilson, at Louder Sound they would already be jerking off!
