If the band members have extra time for side projects then why on earth they can’t get together a do a decent album. We have been waiting for 6 years for a new DP album. All in the name of being and getting fit according to Ian Pace of course!!!

    Gillanfan says:

    @dale

I totally agree with you !

We are seeing some stupid side projects, like this and the so called Flying Colours with Morse, what’s enough is enough.

Make one proper album, not a dozen of lame ones

    hi gillanfan.

send an email to the management and tell them!
and DONT complain about people doing STUPID side projects.

this is NOT a stupid side project.. go, learn an instrument, and get yourself to the level, that you can play with a deep purple member. then you can keep on complaining!

AND IF you have read the proir messages in the last months, you can read, why DP at the moment are not doing an album.

    cheers!

Purple is clearly a commercial enterprise and their new albums simply don’t sell enough to justify the investment. The flip side is their world tours are very sucessful and they play arenas in most markets. Purple is not going to record an album on a shoe string budget. Rightfully so, they are way beyond that. The only way a new album happens is if Deep Purple’s members have this creative urge. There are no major labels, song writers or producers banging on Purple’s door to cut another album with this line-up. However, I have seen this line-up twice and both times they were excellent and it was great fun to see these ICONS. I’m glad they are together and still touring and playing these amazing songs for their legions of fans world-wide. I just glad they are still around, relevant and I hope to see them a few more times.

Man, what are all these side projects??? I guess Purple’s relentless tour schedule just isn’t enough! These projects are kind like ‘musical adultry’ or something. Not satisfied at home… get ‘It’ somewhere else! I guess this is preferable to doing nothing as we get to see our heroes more often….?!

ron huther, you got it! this is it!!

and everybody else, who is asking himself: ” why are they doing this”..
on every show for example ian paice is doing a “question-answer” section… and everytime he is answering THIS question….

mr. paice! why are you doing this projects beside DP?
ian paice: ” well, the reason, why i do this is…………….”

come in, and find out :-))

    luv & rocknroll!

Many artists still make albums and DO sell.
Some even make big sellers, think AC/DC for example.

Why would DP be beyond recording an album without overblown costs?

Like many say and should know : Today it is relatively easy to record in a studio at home as well, if you’re talking comfort.

    I wonder ….
Did old albums like Machine Head costs fortunes to record?

    DON’T THINK SO!!!

Maybe they should skip down a bit on comfort, pack it up and in like DC and Cozy did: Go outside and return refreshed.
I think it SHOULD be into a place cold and damp like the Hotel DP rented in 1971 and pump a killeralbum.

    Guess not : (

It’s fine by me guys, I just put on Deep Purple Mark 5 Live In Brasil 1991 on DVD and enjoy myself as if I am still 18 : )

    Wow, ON FIRE they were.
The only letdown is JLT who is not in great shape all the way, but Lord and Blackmore make up it for big time.
Loads of differnces compared to shows earlier that year.
Thinking that 1 year later it all turned into a big mess again : (

Hell, wish they had filmed and released something professionally.
I know the Yugoslavian TV broadcast but Brasil pushes that one out of the water with great gusto.

    Cheers, Mark

this is not a stupid side project, it can’t even be called so…this is just another tribute acts…so sad…

That may be so but probably they WILL play tracks like Purpendicular Waltz?

That song must be yearning in itself : Do you remember, remember my name? : (

@7 Philadelphia 1991 soundboard bootleg quality…that’s probably the best cd you can listen from that line up…

and for the dvd : yes, probably the ostrava one (but I suggest even the Gillan’s ostrava 1991 one dvd)

Tracy Heyder (Zero the Hero) says:

Very cool Mr. Paice. Nothing like a Musician’s Musician getting out and doing what he does best and enjoys the most….PLAYING HIS DRUMS. And giving those boys the thrill of him sitting in with them on a couple of show? AWESOME! They are a tribute band that plays tribute to HIM for God’s sake. My hat’s off to you Sir Ian for taking time to play with these guys. It’s a kind gesture that should be respected, not criticized. Damn, is there anything the whiners here won’t whine about? This has nothing to do with, nor interferes with a new album. I guess he shouldn’t enjoy a healthy shit or enjoy a friggin’ Twinkie until a new album is released also????

    Cheer-Up

I dont have the impression everyone is negative about this project.

Paicey joins this outfit for 2 shows, that is not much.
Gillan, on the contrary does many “Orchestral shows”and that now for a few years in a row.

There was a time I d do everything to attend as much as possible, though.

    purplepriest1965 says:

Btw, I agree that extracurricular activities should refrain them for recording a new album.

Much has been said about WHAT is refraining them.

    Enough said.

    purplepriest1965 says:

Ooops, I forgot the word NOT.

Lo de los proyectos individuales siempre lo han hecho así,antes y después de una gira, pero los fans estamos esperando un nuevo disco de estudio ya hace falta,ya se tardaron, esperemos que este año puedan grabar algo nuevo.

I saw many cover tribute bands in Germany, and I felt sick to view them for singing their own idols, and no one plays very well and their purpose is only for money making style….nothing more
