How the perks were made
CBS 8 out of San Diego, California, (re)publishes this short report from 1974 about setting up for the April 9th Deep Purple concert in a local arena (that’s the show that was widely bootlegged as Perks and Tit, among many other titles). Not quite a blast from the past, but more of a gentle breeze. With 13,000 watts of sonic power.

Blackmore had constant tuning issues during that concert – unusual for him. I sure wouldn’t have wanted to be around him when he walked off stage after that particular gig was over. 😬

June 24th, 2026 at 07:37You are right MacGregor. Where has the time gone. 1974 and DP were BIG here in the States!! Most of the songs from “Burn” were played on FM radio stations back when they would play almost anything, even the MIJ Version of Space Truckin. Now all we have are mostly Classic Rock stations that all play the same old songs. If I bought a Rock Station, the first song I would play would be Mandrake Root from Stockholm 1970! 🙂 🙂
