Down to Earth down under

Graham Bonnet spoke to Australia’s Heavy Magazine promoting his upcoming short tour down there. He mentioned that he will be marking the 40th anniversary of Down to Earth by performing the whole album live:

We’re actually going to play the whole ‘Down To Earth’ album that I did with RAINBOW that’s never been done before, so it makes an interesting show, I think, along with some oldies but goodies. I think it’s going to be good.

When I was in RAINBOW, we did a lot of their old stuff that Ronnie Dio sang, so when we played songs from ‘Down To Earth’ live, we probably only did about four or five songs — something like that. We never did the whole album as such. This is everything. I’ve got to relearn songs that were, like, B-sides to singles… There’s about two or three that have never been done live before, so this is quite an experience for me, apart from the audience.

Graham Bonnet Australian tour dates:

Jun 6th 2019 – Enigma Bar – Adelaide
Jun 7th 2019 – Corner Hotel – Melbourne
Jun 8th 2019 – Manning Bar – Sydney

Tickets, including VIP passes, are available from the promoters Hardline Media.

Looks good. Using Alkatrazz as opposed to the GBB….

Down to Earth was a great album!! Graham did as fantastic job on it. Too bad he didn’t stick with RB for one more album.

The Manning Bar in Sydney has to have one of the worst acoustics of any venue I have ever been to, seriously, if you are thinking of going to hear Graham then I’d consider just listening from outside as it will sound 10 times better than inside.

    Good to hear.

I have to say the advertising for these gigs was really poor and I did not find out about the shows until about 3 days before the show. What’s a legendary singer like Graham Bonnet doing in small sized pub venues on a short Australia tour, should be at least performing in theater sized venues on a more regional Australian tour. It’s like if you don’t have a Facebook page then you wouldn’t have known about the concerts to begin with. The Manning Bar is such a dodgy venue for concerts but i’m sure Graham was great all three shows. It would have been awesome to hear one of my favourite Rainbow albums all the way through live. Hope he comes back soon.

Saw Graham Bonnet yesterday at the manning bar. He sure can still belt it out .. started with eyes of the world followed by all night long.one of the best concerts i’ve Been to of late. Sound was also really good by the bar side . Down to earth followed by songs from Alcatraz , msg, Blackthorne, impelliterri, and solo albums . Band also was exceptionally tight .
