Show must go on

glenn hughes sound&vision 2026-03-02 poster

Despite the cancellation of the pretty much all Glenn Hughes tour dates for this year, his appearance at the Sound & Vision Awards in Palm Springs, California, on March 2, 2026, is apparently proceeding ahead. Glenn has posted on his Twitter:

Music changes lives – especially for kids 🎵

Join me March 2, 2026 at the historic Plaza Theatre in Palm Springs for the @adoptthearts Sound & Vision Awards, honoring my good friends, @_paulrodgers
and @geezerbutler

An intimate night of iconic music supporting elementary school music education.

6-Gun sound is or claim to fame ! 😁

    Rajaseudun Rampe says:

What will be coming after that? Glenn Hughes sings Gary Glitter! Glenn Hughes sings Suzy Quatro! Glenn Hughes sings Fleetwood Mac! Glenn Hughes sings Pat Boone!

    Karin Verndal says:

I am really happy for him and for all those people I know like him so much 😃

Go get them Mr Hughes 😃🙏🏼

    Uwe Hornung says:

But last I looked Paul Rodgers and Geezer Butler were both still doing fine, isn’t this a tad early?! 😂

And apparently Glenn is too, at least well enough for a performance which is just as nice to hear – no matter what the excuse. (Glenn’s voice wouldn’t be the first thing that comes to my mind for a Bad Company tribute, but I’m sure he’ll do a swell job.)

Will Paul and Geezer be even there?

    Hubertus says:

    Great he’s performing.
I believe, however, that his tour was canceled due to poor ticket sales.

    Why? What for?

That’s good news, maybe it’s not as bad as we thought.

Can’t help but wonder if the U.S. dates were canceled for reasons of not wanting to bother with the mess going on here. Notably nothing here for Purple’s tour either. Can’t say I’d blame them if that were the case….a bit over half of us don’t want to be here these days. Sorry everyone, hopefully we can get it together soon.

@2 Well, he did sing Sinatra …on thr other hand Pat Boone did sing DP… but what’s wrong with honoring Paul Rodgers? They’re about the same age, same heritage, same scene, Trapeze and Free would’ve been a helluva package in 1972 …

@8 America has been through many a crisis and rough times… like, say, Deep Purple….😄😉…. but true greatness will survive and I believe better times are coming. Bit unsure myself though Wanted to travel the South with my boys this fall but better wait for what happens next.

    Glenn, everybodies great friend.
He might try to sing Paul Rodgers songs but I’d
be fucked sideways before I’d listen to him murder
    them.

    Uwe Hornung says:

No worries, Vjg, it is the nature of even Bad Bunnies to multiply more than Kid Rocks and judging from my recent visit in Santa Fe and L.A. there is light at the end of the three-year-tunnel.

    Marcus says:

In general, you sing in honour of the dead.
Paul was alive last time I looked – and still singing.
Anyway, his best stuff was done with Free.

The fact that the R&R Hall of Infamy is involved just makes it worse

    Uwe Hornung says:

He suffered bad strokes in the past, but has come round again:

Paul Rodgers pulled out of the R&RHOF last November. He has been through the wringer health wise, the last ten years or so.

Is he trying to tell GH something.

    Uwe Hornung says:

Well, one thing that can be said of Glenn is that he was an early and sincere admirer of Rodgers – after all he joined DP believing he would sing with him!

He’ll certainly do a better job than Chris Robinson did here at the RRHoF, he seemed to have an off-night:

One thing you can say about Glenn is that ever since he left the Peruvian produce behind him, he’s pretty note-accurate when singing live.

    Daniel says:

It seems to be for a good cause + Glenn is friends with both Geezer Butler and Matt Sorum, so I don’t see any real harm, but as usual, his contributions are written off even before the event 🙂

  18. 18
    Uwe Hornung says:

I‘m sure he‘ll do a fine job. Glenn‘s tone of voice might not be to everyone‘s liking, but he did fine tributing RJD whose voice is as far removed from Glenn‘s as imaginable.

Rodgers (like Dio) had/has a forceful lower register; that was never really Glenn‘s forte, but he‘s gained authority in his midrange over the decades.

    Uwe Hornung says:

Apparently, Paul sang a few songs himself at this event:

but I haven’t found anything with Glenn yet.

Our notorious Randers Cougar’s honeybunch Nuno B. is featured too … 🤗

    Glenn was definitely there:

    @19
Isn’t it strange that we still have no account of GH’s performance at that event? It seems so unlike his usual exhibitionism…
