Stuck to their own ways of evolution
Ian Gillan was interviewed by Dubai 92. The hosts have obviously skimmed the relevant Wikipedia article(s), but managed to get it “nearly right”. Nothing groundbreaking was revealed, but probably with regard to another of his recent interviews, from which too many people seem to have read way too much, Big Ian reiterated that the band has no immediate plans to retire.
Thanks to Blabbermouth and Uwe for the heads-up.

Unauthorized copying, while sometimes necessary, is never as good as the real thing
Ian sounds like he’s sharp as a tack, mind still quick as ever. Get him some special classes for the vision issue and I think he’ll be able to continue rocking for a few years, easily. Ritchie, on the other hand, seems like he speaks a lot slower than in the past and is fading faster, in my view, anyway.
November 22nd, 2025 at 06:20Just have to say this:
Oohh man Ian is MAGNIFICENT!
“The band is hard and mean and hungry” – yeah 🤩
Looking forward to see them live, me being maybe not hard and mean, but indeed hungry (and thirsty for coffee 😍)
November 22nd, 2025 at 07:45It’s so lovely to see Mr Gillan looking healthy and as sharp as ever with great hunger for music and performance.
November 22nd, 2025 at 09:50Total respect for his professional approach on retirement and linking it to dignity.
The band is tight and on fire so let enjoy 2026 and what DP will bring to the table.
Peace ✌️
Can’t you understand how I feel babe
November 22nd, 2025 at 10:23You got me, but all I got is you
Yup, James, I’ve noticed that too, IG has acuity and is alert in that interview. Ritchie recently less so, but then by his character Ian is more open and by his environment also has more stimuli than Ritchie. It’s difficilt to avoid people and new influences altogether if you like Ian travel all over the world with a lot of people around you most of the year or spend time with them creatively in a studio. Ritchie hasn’t had neither in a while and while he luckily has his family, those of us with kids (or who remember their own teenage days) know how much time teenagers want to spend with their parents as they mature and peer groups become everything. Not a lot.
Also, all of the medication Ritchie likely has to take following his six stents – they don’t necessarily make you quicker in thought or communication, I saw it with my dad.
Or maybe it’s all the crossword puzzles Ian did and does, what do I know?
But then people all age in their own way and why should Ian and Ritchie be any different then the two uncles you have who are altogether different as they grow older and older?
November 22nd, 2025 at 16:30Ian writes at his fb page that he has no intention whatsoever of retiring!
And calls himself MrMagoo
😄 gotta love that spirit he has!
And yes – WHAT A MAN!
November 23rd, 2025 at 08:50I can’t believe he never gets tired of answering the ‘tell me about Montreux’ questions
November 23rd, 2025 at 12:27Again Ian as usual self : clever, nice, sharp as a knife…and he looks great…great to see that.
His voice is fab on the 3 shows of this month so we can hope for a great 2026…unbelievable guy.
November 23rd, 2025 at 14:00No one seems to ever listen to the lyrics which already say it all.
OTOH, it’s always an incident journos can initially latch onto to get into gear. And it is of course a testament to how
– a catastrophe can spawn and trigger great art,
– the best-laid plans (of recording in a mock live atmosphere of the Casino) can go to waste and lead to something contrary, even anathema to them (recording in the confines of the guest accommodations of a hotel instead) which against all odds yields a great result (Machine Head sounds one of a kind in all its precise neatness) and is commercially successful to boot (MH is Purple‘s bestselling album).
So something as destructive and wanton as a fire ended up creating something special and lasting – there lie some philosophical truths buried in all that! 🤗
November 23rd, 2025 at 15:04Great Big Ian!
