Here’s to the next one!

A message from Don Airey:

It was a great boost to the band to tour behind a hit album and very gratifying to hear audiences singing along to Vincent Price, All The Time in The World and the rest as enthusiastically as they did to Smoke or Black Night.

It has also been a tremendous lift realising the impact NOW What?! has had on people’s lives.

Here’s to the next one and thanks to you all for making this so possible!

Don

Thanks to Andrey Gusenkov for the info.

The fans on this website were right.

The band needed a new album to counter the endless touring with essentially the same or similar set lists. Recall that that classic Mk II line-up was becoming self-admittedly cabaret-ish–and they did not take eight years between albums.

Fans also pushed for more Morse-era music to keep the band relevant.

The new album was the proverbial shot-in-the-arm. They are playing new songs–and good ones–and suddenly the group is in the limelight once again. Purple has gained a second wind, and both band and fan confidence is restored. It must be a blast to be able to belt out both old tunes and new with equal power.

Hopefully, they will not wait another eight years for the next one.

It is a great Deep Purple album. I still listen to it on a regular basis. Will I be listening to it in 20 years? Who’s to say. Right now though, it still works for me.

Well, contrary what I thought earlier this year, ?! has made it possible (if not down right likely) that we’ll get another album from DP some day. And that is gggrrreattt!

It would be great if they do another album but they need to crack on with it soon as they are all getting up there!
Maybe there are some tunes left over from Now What sessions.
As other people note, it would be also great to see them do a tour with more Morse-era songs.
