Here’s my review of yesterday’s show of Whitesnake in brussels.

First of all, you have to know that David Coverdale has always been my favourite singer, and that the last time I saw him was in 1984 for the Slide it In tour…

Even though I knew how bad his voice seems to have gotten, having read many reviews and heard some bootlegs, I was expecting A LOT from that concert.

I got to the venue early enough so that I was standing just in front of Coverdale, third row.I stood there two hours and waited for the man to arrive.

And believe me it all worth it!!!!

David Coverdale is AMAZING! He is a great showman, a great entertainer, and also still a great singer!

Sure, he’s backed up a lot by the band, sure he uses a lot of effects, sure he does a lot of crowd singin, but believe me, when he sings, he sings beautifully, can still go pretty high, and still has a wonderful voice on the quieter moments.

Maybe, possibly, he was in an especially good shape last night, and of course the magic of being at the show covers a lot of mistakes, but I was honestly happily surprised by the amount of vocal energy David was delivering!!!

To say the least, he’s got a good band , but there’s really too little warmth coming out of them. the guitars solos are perfect, but way too sterile, so was the drumming.
So again, David did the show and provided all the soul!

the setlist was the same as in Paris (see above) except for Blindman, and David Coverdale did a verse of Mistreated by request of someone in the audience.
So, a bit dissapointing here too-especially for a 25th Slide it in anniversary tour, they could have thrown in Slow an easy or Slide it in…Whatever.

I don’t know how to describe how happy I am to have seen David again and to have seen that he still can sing like no one can and bring tears to my eyes.

It seems like a lot of people were just as surprised as I was, the audience was great, the place was packed!

Boy, was that good or what!?!
