There’s nothing iconic, nothing that gives him a unique identity and stands out from the crowd.
August 9th, 2025 at 06:52GH has simply become a bulemic musician
How about the voice for starters?
August 9th, 2025 at 09:13I like it better than the title track, if you are a big GH fan it probably sounds GREAT! I am only a casual fan of his solo music and this is good but no groundbreaking stuff IMO
August 9th, 2025 at 11:16Respect to Glenn as a musician (not as an intellect), but this is becoming more and more the same thing.
August 9th, 2025 at 12:00Scusi, but I absolutely love this track, it echoes Hughes Thrall, supercalifragilisticexpialidocius!

Bit of Trapeze and From Now On ⦠in there too.
As unbulemic as your momās lasagne recipe, AndreA!
His baritone in the verse and the backing vocals and melodic solo bass playing in the coda – magnifico-oh-0h-0h (to quote Freddie Mercuryās love for Italian opera).
[Someone must have hijacked Uweās account, isnāt he the guy whoās normally all negative and always miserably putting things down?]
August 9th, 2025 at 14:57nada nuevo muy estĆ”ndar todo ….me quedo con Deep Purple actual mil veces

AndreA – Iām afraid youāre on to something thereā¦
But I found this very old song, and to be honest: this is very ok āŗļøš

August 9th, 2025 at 18:21I am looking forward to downloading the album from youtube
August 9th, 2025 at 18:35Completely off-topic, I see that the VIP Meet & Greet package for Glenn’s upcoming tour is just 169,75 euros (excluding gig ticket) . Completely reasonable, compared with Yngwie Malmsteen’s similar package at 437 euros š
I understand the reasoning behind this thing, but still don’t like it.
August 9th, 2025 at 19:26Beautiful song with great line basses and melodies vocals. A wonderful GH album is comming.
August 9th, 2025 at 20:46Tsk, tsk, tsk, Karin likes a song full of spite and hate written in a sardonic mood by Steve Harley while he was ill in bed and feeling vengeful against his bandmates who had dared to ask whether they could write songs too ā¦
August 9th, 2025 at 21:32Although an acquired taste, he’s still got that great voice. Having seen this talented band of musicians, it surprises me to notice the lack of actual guitar solos in the songs.
August 9th, 2025 at 21:45So and so song after all, BCC leftover?
Off topic, but I imagine what the Purps like with a new producer could be something like this. (watch video)
August 9th, 2025 at 22:48Even being a hardrocker at heart, this made me keep my hopes up that AI can’t take over the music industry.
Incredible album https://youtu.be/g5zApLvfvPs?feature=shared
And it’s got a Purple connection, as Andrew Watt was the guitar player from California Breed, and is producing (he also produced the latest Rolling Stones album)
August 9th, 2025 at 22:52That Elton/Brandi collab is a good one and though I thought California Breed live disappointing due to Andrew Wattās lack of guitar gravitas, he has now found his calling as a producer.
August 10th, 2025 at 12:06The Rolling Stones’ latest production sucks. It sounds like shit, it’s not RS’worthy.

Honestly, if I should know every single detail about a song, the singer, the band, the producer, the singerās parents, siblings, shoe size, if he dye his hair etc, I would never be able to listen to any song again š
Sometimes ignorance is blissā¦šāŗļø
August 10th, 2025 at 13:57Harley himself always joked that his most vitriolic song penned in cold rage became his greatest hit.
Very few people got how the lyrics were his scathing Abrechnung with the original Cockney Rebel line-up who had dared revolt against him.

August 10th, 2025 at 14:47Definitely the best track so far, first I like.
August 10th, 2025 at 18:37@17
Same here. With some songs I don’t want to know the lyrics for instance. While I read every word IG writes I just let the Dio-stuff roll by…it’s all about feel, creating a certain atmoshere for me.
There are albums of the Black Crowes I like very much – and I don’t even know the song titles. In fact they are very hard to read on the cover – I decided it’s for a reason.I put them on and listen start to finish but don’t care for the words.
Sometimes ignorance is bliss indeed. Not only when it comes to music.

āHarley himself always joked that his most vitriolic song penned in cold rage became his greatest hit.ā
– thank you šš¼
Iām not sure what Iām supposed to do with this information though š
But itās interestingā¦
Do you then know how Jeff Lynneās āMr Blue Skyā came to life?
August 11th, 2025 at 04:41(Itās the only song I know the story about because normal I donāt bother š)
@20
Normally I listen carefully to the lyrics and make my own interpretations.
But of course there are some songs where it doesnāt matter, this one I guess youāll agree is less important:

šš
The same with all AC/DCās songsā¦
But then Ian Gillanās lyrics – uhhh very intriguing and thought provoking!
I always read the lyrics if I canāt hear the words (re IG that it).
But some music I just listen to for the nice rhythms and maybe lovely voice(s)
How embarrassing it can be when I have been singing loudly and proudly the wrong lyrics and people around me laugh at me and point out how wrong I am š«£āŗļø (not that it stops me singing š)
āNot only when it comes to music.ā
August 11th, 2025 at 05:01– š I guess youāre right. But being a nosey woman it can be difficult (read: impossible) to mind oneās business āŗļøš
From the new solo album by GH and the super group BCC, a gentle return to the past century, the first half of the nineties of the last century….my view.
While the sea was entering the ship on the high seas DP (Slaves and Master-The Battle Rages On) and threatening to sink the ship (until salvation and the future appeared in the form of Steve Morse…, the in love prince Ritchie found his Cinderella and already had a different musical plan, his rock n roll was entering its last years, David Coverdale was financially secure but musically in a crisis of identity and sought help from the equally downtrodden in Jimmy Page (1993 great album) which accelerated the collaboration of Robert Plant with the duo from LZ again …. I’m going back to Glenn
Glenn Hughes was in my eyes for years in the dark tunnel of DP and his family….during the 80s, drug addiction spoiled his most vital rock years (between 30-40) At the beginning of the nineties he appeared clean, sober and completely rejuvenated .There wasn’t much funk, soul pop in his music…but hard rock, and the best, melodically, he returned a series of good albums Blues (L.A. Blues Authority Volume II), From Now On, Burning Japan Live (a great tribute to DP), Addiction…with the help of Scandinavian (underrated) masters (Joakim ‘JJ’ Marsh, Thomas Larsson, Mic Michaeli, Jon Leven, Ian Haugland, John Norum)…in addition to the albums, there were also successful guest appearances. Glenn was the strongest in the DP family for me at the time…

August 11th, 2025 at 08:19I’m totally with you, Ivica, Glenn’s occasional bigmouth antics in interviews should not detract from the fact that his quality control musically was always pretty sharp. Glenn’s output is so varied that I guess even his longtime die hard fans are sometimes put off because he is either too funky or not funky enough for them from release to release. BUT, and it is a big but, there is always dedication and craftsmanship to his solo output, it’s never just so-so or lackadaisical.
August 11th, 2025 at 14:42@24 For me it’s not really a matter of too funky or not funky enough. I’m a big fan of some of Glenns funky output (Feel), but also enjoy the heavy stuff he recorded with Tony Iommi. The problem often lies in the songwriting-area; most of Glenn’s songs from the past 10-15 years (Resonate, BBC, Dead Daisies) lack that little something that keeps you hooked or keeps the song stuck in your head… or keeps you wanting to listen to the album again. Even most stuff on the solo albums for ’99-’05 is missing something.
August 13th, 2025 at 14:39Glenn isnāt a very commercial songwriter. Between the jazzy chords he prefers and the Grunge and RnB influences, youāll be hard-pressed to find something as mainstream hard rock catchy as Coverdaleās/Marsdenās Here I Go Again.
