Eye for eye, tooth for tooth

Another track from Gillan’s performance at Rock Goes To College from February 23, 1981, has been posted. Here’s Big Ian seeking Vengeance.

Thanks to Steve for not giving up.

    adel Faragalla says:

Somehow I can understand why he joined Black Sabbath.
Some say it was a mistake but I say it was the best and most cleverest move that Ian Gillan ever taken.
They guy is very business minded.
    Peace ✌️

    Karin Verndal says:

    So much energy 🤩

And what a voice that young man had!

Gillan (the band) certainly was going places, especially in Denmark I need to say ☺️

One of most my favourite song.
    Full of power!!

But my favourite live version is this https://youtu.be/nKFNLuYxYqM?si=gYe9-fxnXlSqghkL

    Wiktor says:

A descent song, nothing more nothing less. But I do think he was wasting his talent a little with this speed rock with lyrics and clothes that looked and sounded like he was applying to join a bikers gang…

  6. 6
    Uwe Hornung says:

A simple song with a jaunty melody, let down further by an utterly unremarkable chorus which must have taken 10 seconds to write. 😑

It was among the first I heard from GILLAN when I saw this on German TV in early 1980 …

    https://youtu.be/dlHGPa-JdjI

As a card-carrying IGB aficionado who had loved stuff like this here …

    https://youtu.be/VDvYrEs6nXE

it came as somewhat of a culture shock to me and I thought to myself: Is this the way Ian really wants to go now, sing-and-clap-along happy rock along the lines of Bachman Turner Overdrive without the furs? 🙄 😂

    https://youtu.be/2oUBxyXxyFo

Not one of my GILLAN favorites as you might have gathered then! It’s overtly banal. Luckily, more and better was to follow.

PS: John McCoy‘s bass intro is cool though.

    Uwe Hornung says:

Unrelated to the song, very likely no other principle has brought a greater amount of havoc, sadness and despair to this world than that terrible “eye for an eye” proverb, and not just in the Mideast either though it is especially crass there.

    It’s nihilism at its worst.

    Uwe Hornung says:

Ian’s Sabbath stint could never last for long, but it gave us Born Again, an album that has continually risen in public reception since it came out. It is a cult record by now.

I dare say from today’s vantage point it is a more influential album than Perfect Strangers (which compared to Born Again is painstakingly conventional, not wishing to alienate anyone).

Ian was out of his comfort zone and so was Sabbath, yet somehow their respective worlds merged to something new and exciting.

If they ever release that promised remix, it will sell like hot cakes.

They were very big in UK too …always on telly and radio…singles charting etc …and this was before the Internet!

Wiktor …you’ve got to remember it was late 70s , early 80s , he was just dressing to identify himself as a rocker …there was still punk about …skinheads were everywhere, new romantics ..plus others …they were very different days !
I’ve probably still got my denim jacket somewhere…with all the patches on ! I’ve even got a replica of his bootlace tie ! Lol

    “eye for an eye…”

One of my favorite quotes. Used very effectively by Christopher Walken in the movie Seven Psychopaths and just as effectively rebutted by Sam Rockwell.

“clothes that looked and sounded like he was applying to join a bikers gang…”

And what’s wrong with that? I grew up around 1% clubs. I trust those people more than I would trust a cop. They had a positive effect on me and helped me see what’s really important in life.

That might well be Steve, but never as grandiose as in Denmark 😄

  13. 13
    Fla76 says:

Vengeance is my favorite Gillan band song, with the difference between the first verse with BigIan in the spotlight, and then the whole band starting the second one in an irresistible way!
chorus that stays in your head for 1ms, and then the coda is also beautiful with a long solo and reprise of the chorus to sing along with the audience.

divinely arranged song, in my opinion it deserved worldwide success.

    #10 Russ:
I agree with you, bikers are real people.

  14. 14
    Max says:

A nice little song to turn to when you really had it with someone.

BTW: A question for our young Danish readers: In which DP related song does that eye-for-an-eye saying appear too?

  15. 15
    timmi bottoms says:

The best !….. and you can see why he was chosen to play Christ.

    Uwe Hornung says:

I have issues with the concept “dressing yourself to identify as a rocker”, it reeks of conformity, something you should have perhaps left behind by the time Ian headed GILLAN and teenage peer pressure is a thing of the past. Graham Bonnet proved he was a rocker three seconds into any Rainbow concert via his voice. Defying expectations with your wardrobe or simply being your own (wo)man like David Bowie or Lady Gaga impresses me more.

When GILLAN happened, Ian was a grown man in his mid thirties approaching middle age, I don’t think anybody would have mistaken him as a punk (too old) or a New Romantic (too little make-up) or a New Waver (little fashion sense) or a skinhead (too much hair, too little neo-fascism), that ultra-long hair seemed to me to be an attempt to harken back to his JCS look in the early 70s when ironically he had already moved to other looks in the late phase of Mk II and with IGB. But even with Ian, something that looks good and natural with you in your early 20s need not do so ten years later.

There is nothing wrong with a biker gang btw unless organized crime is their focus.

Oh but Max, I’m afraid I’m the only Danish reader in this splendid forum, and as we all are well aware now, I’m mature, old age, over the hill and soon to be buried under it, so unless there indeed are som young Danish readers, I am afraid you have to give us the answer yourself 😆😁

  19. 19
    Karin Verndal says:

    @16

But Uwe, I identify more as a rocker than anything else, and my wardrobe is mostly dresses, skirts, all feminine clothing… ( and Russ, I’m very trustworthy ☺️) so I guess it is more an inner feeling than anything else 😄🤩

  20. 20
    Karin Verndal says:

    @17

And it is a pretty song, isn’t it!?!

I expect within a week you have all learned this by heart, and will sing it in here 😄

  21. 21
    Uwe Hornung says:

“A question for our young Danish readers …”

I see you’re learning real fast, Max! 😁

Oh those young Danish ladies…so busy being young, they don’t find the time to do their homework. Well …that sweet bird of youth…

It’s You an’ Me from that old David Coverdale dude of course.

  25. 25
    Steve says:

So …if you only had one Gillan song to choose as your favourite, what would it be ?
Very, very difficult question to answer but, let’s see if we can’t put together a Gillans greatest hits ….( for Gillan fans only ..obviously..lol )

    Mine
    Dead of night …

…I’m sure it will change tomorrow…oops…I forgot about Are you sure and Unchain your Brain ….but, I did say only one !

  26. 26
    Uwe Hornung says:

“It’s You an’ Me from that old David Coverdale dude of course.”

A composition even more instantly forgettable than Vengeance – let’s be fair to all split-off strands! 😈

    My favorite GILLAN tunes are:

    – Dead Of Night

    – Abbey Of Thelema

    – Fighting Man

    – She Tears Me Down

    – Are You Sure

    – Time & Again

    – On The Rocks

    – Your Mother Was Right

    – One For The Road

    – I’ll Rip Your Spine Out

    – Restless

    – Sunbeam

    – Nightmare

    – Fiji

That is quite a lot, songwriting (or lack thereof) was never really GILLAN’s issue.

Nothing from Future Shock or Magic though really. Compositionally overall, Glory Road (the band was brimming with ideas) and the studio side of Double Trouble (their most refined work – although “refined” is relative with GILLAN! 😂) stand out for me. With the exception of Hadely Bop Bop there is not a weak track on DT.

    Ole Jacobsen says:

    Favourite Gillan tunes:
    1. Roller
    2. On the Rocks
    3. Secret of the dance
    4. … And 15 others 🤩

Unchain Your Brain. The studio version is good but live it’s unbeatable especially with Second Sight preceding it. Those 2 fit together perfectly.

jaa, Bluesy Blue Sea is my favorit Gillan Song too but also No laughin in heaven und Born To Kill und If you believe me, and Purple Sky and Sacre Bleu!!! ok, i love them all…

  34. 34
    Steve says:

Yeah, it’s impossible to name one isn’t it !…they all seem to be coming from Mr Universe and Glory Road…but, I must admit , Bluesy blue sea was a favourite of mine too.
It’s really interesting to see what others think and like …
What about Good hand liza and lay me down from I.G.B …I used to love those.

    Russ
Totally agree about second sight and unchain your brain live ….the atmosphere that used to build from the crowd during that was electric…especially when Big John stared right at you and just hit that bass string ! Happy memories

I‘m with Roger Glover‘s long-held opinion on the matter though: Ian‘s sartorial picks can be hit and miss, but it‘s best to ignore them and hope that they‘ll go away by themselves. And if you guys think that in the early 80s the absence of a haircut, bootcut pants and early 70s style heeled ankle boots in white leather were fashionable in London (or anywhere else), then who am I to criticize your freedom of expression.

If you prefer Ian in an old garments collection look, so be it. In 1981 or so you could however head a hard rocking outfit and still look more current – without being mistaken for a Duran Duran member.

One For The Road – great track!

What about Handles On Her Hips though?

  38. 38
    Uwe Hornung says:

@31: Russ, I do see your point now, you mean to say that Steve playing guitar with Purple was akin to manual labor at an excavation/construction site in arid regions! If only I had known that before …

    Attila says:

I checked out the Aston, Popoff talk yesterday ranking the DP family tree catalogue. To my surprise, Gillan came second and first, meaning beating Rainbow, WS, and DP. So Fermi was wrong: I am not alone ín the Universe after all.

  41. 41
    Uwe Hornung says:

Horses for courses, I found Bluesy Blue Sea lumbering when I first heard it – still do – the kind of slow chug-chug-a-chug-gallop a drummer friend of mine once described as the holy frogs hopping to the temple of doom 🏛️ 🐸🐸🐸🏛️ and otherwise lamentably prevalent on Dio and Iron Maiden records. 😴💤 That was unusual for GILLAN who tended to be overly frantic rather than lumbering.

The whole Magic album sounded very forced and labored to me, the freshness that made the studio side of Double Trouble stand out had somehow evaporated, it didn’t sound like an upbeat album to me at all and the jaunty Long Gone (similarly banal as Vengeance!) stood out like a sore thumb while Living In The City was just an incredulous choice for a song to be covered by a band as unfunky as GILLAN (Glenn or DC could have had a better shot at it, even JLT might, IGB could have turned it into something interesting if John Gustafson had shared lead vocals on it …

    One Gillan song!!??

ONE – this is impossible Steve….

I cannot chose amongst all my favourites! But if I image a gun put to my sorry head I have to say: Vengeance
    I mean – listen here:
    https://youtu.be/kdvdrhxJa2M?si=MqCYQFwUtpMGLYnj

    It has it all:
A lion mane singing like an angel 🤩
    A very energetic guitarist 😃
A bassist that will make even Uwe a bit envious
A drummer that gives all he got (I remember some of you in here once wrote about him that he looks like the one warming up the drums for the real drummer, or something like that, but I like him 😃)

But ok this song is also adorable:

Interesting choice of Abbey of Thelema there….you’re definitely coming out of left field there ( must admit, it’s a song that’s often playing in my head)

I’ve got to give an honourable mention to Your Sisters on my list …cus she’s got big tit’s!…quite often , the B sides were better then the A sides …

It’s funny how no one has gone to Future shock ( Don’t want the truth ? ) …kind of makes you think doesn’t it !?

  47. 47
    Fla76 says:

Just one Gillan song is impossible, at least three please:

    Fighting Man
    Clouds and Rain
You Make Me Feel So Good
(bonus version of Cherkazoo with what I think is the best scream bigIan has ever done!)

    or
    Music in my Head

Russ, I knew it was you, who else scavenges around in the dirt for minerals? 😂

  52. 52
    Tillythemax says:

@45 Thanx, Uwe. Indeed Ozzy has been a constant for half of my life now and I vividly remember how moved my fifteen year old self was when he saw Sabbath on their final tour. Since then not many weeks have gone by in which I haven’t listened to a song by Ozzy or Sabbath.

  53. 53
    Steve says:

Yeah, really sad news about Ozzy …must admit, I thought something like this would happen very soon after the Villa Park gig …it was as if he wanted to play with his mates one last time then, slip peacefully away.
Thanks Ozzy …I bet you’ve given us all on here some great memories R.I.P

  54. 54
    Uwe Hornung says:

    Russ, 🌈🏳️‍🌈 mine, I geddit! 😂

  55. 55
    Uwe Hornung says:

Future Shock is both sonically and compositionally a weak album, Steve, that’s all.

Your Sister’s On My List is another unsung gem.

  56. 56
    Tillythemax says:

@55 For Your Dreams and Night Ride out of Phoenix are very high in my Gillan song ranking, but otherwise I tend to agree, especially concerning the production. Still, I like Future Shock much more then Magic, which I find the weakest of them all; the exception of course is Bluesy Blue Sea.

    Top 2 of each album:
    Mr. Universe / Puget Sound
Are You Sure / On the Rocks
Nigth Ride out of Phoenix / For Your Dreams
    Sunbeam / Born to Kill
Bluesy Blue Sea / Living for the City

And Uwe was right about Your Mother Was Right. Gillan was wrong to not include that on a regular album…

  57. 57
    Steve says:

    Russ
Is that your Grindr profile pic ? 🤣🤣🤣
    …🎶 it was a stay at the Y.M.C.A 🎶🤣🤣

Only pulling your leg …cool job …and cool place to live

  58. 58
    Uwe Hornung says:

Nobody could wail like Ozzy, his voice was incredibly limited and pitch accuracy live wasn’t his greatest forte, but that sound coming from his mouth was totally his own and would give even the greatest lyrical nonsense gravitas and drama.

He couldn’t move on stage either )not even as a young man), no one would say that Ozzy had animal grace or was a natural dancer like Mick Jagger or Steven Tyler. But Ozzy, the complete package, had an endearing quality, he was relatable.

I won’t say rest in peace because he was ADHD, but “tranquil unrest” sounds about right. Withering away under Parkinson is no fun from a certain point onward, Ozzy has stopped killing himself to live.

I saw him live with Randy, Zakk (Geezer played bass) and Tony – a representative mix I’d say.

  59. 59
    Fla76 says:

I’m not up to date on any other comments from the Porpora family on Ozzy’s death, but I’d like to point out Ian Gillan’s post on his Caramba website and on Facebook, where he writes:

    “Dear Ozzy,

I can’t help smiling, even now.
    You improved my life,

    Thanks mate.
    ig”

I don’t want to be Ian’s disciple, but objectively it’s probably the best condolence message I’ve read today for its class and intrinsic meaning in so few words…. Ian is certainly not someone who writes things randomly and who always tries not to be banal and honeyed like ordinary mortals, I think only we in here can understand that well.

  60. 60
    Uwe Hornung says:

“Night Ride Out Of Phoenix” is Future Shock’s saving grace, I had forgotten about that one.

  61. 61
    Uwe Hornung says:

I just heard this on Edith’s playlist, Living For The City done proper:

    https://youtu.be/1PaDlRvf4BU

This version has groove, vibe and authenticity. Ian singing it was a bit as if Plácido Domingo had done Ol’ Man River.

    https://youtu.be/eh9WayN7R-s

Schuster bleib bei deinen Leisten … can even apply to great singers like Ian.

Any Widerworte, folks? Don’t be shy! 😈

  62. 62
    MK44 says:

It’s not very often you hear a mix where the bass-guitar is the loudest thing, gets better after a while. But in general sounds pretty bad, nothing to be with band though. Loved Gillan.

  63. 63
    Uwe Hornung says:

MK44, what song are you referring to, Vengeance, je suis puzzled?

  64. 64
    Karin Verndal says:

    @24

    Guten Tag Max,

    Whitesnake’s “You and me”

Well now I finally found it 😊 and have been able to listen to it all.

Have one tiny question: is it really David Coverdale singing??

The vocalist’s voice is very dark, almost too dark to how DC sounds later.
And his pronunciation is also quite different to later songs.
But I certainly like the rythm, the tempo! It could have been a herzzerreißend und traurig song, but it’s lifted to some easier digested song 😊

So thank you! It’s always nice to dwell into all the vocalists not being Ian, and how they have developed their voices 😊

  65. 65
    Max says:

Karin, You’n’me is of course a mediocre song, one of DC’s weaker numbers…but not hard to find as it’s an album track on their second proper album Lovehunter from 1979. And yes it’s DC singing. Check out Snakebite, Trouble, Lovehunter, Ready an’ Willing, Come an’ get it and Saints an’ Sinners, Slide it in.. the 78-84 stuff. He did sing like this. Did sing like a dream actually…

  66. 66
    Uwe Hornung says:

At his vocal core, DC was a high baritone/low tenor, when he went higher he was really stretching himself. Being at home in a lower register doesn‘t mean you cannot hit high notes once in a while, but DC overdid it in the late 80s and he was by then into his mid 30s where a voice is less forgiving about being misappropriated like that. DC tried to sing as high as people ten years his junior —> Axl Rose, and look how Axl has been struggling with his famous helium howl since he is no longer in his twenties.

What DC did was folly and against his nature.

  67. 67
    Karin Verndal says:

    @65

Oh thank you! I will give them a listen, with a open mind and open perception of how music also can sound 😄

I wonder if you would give this guy a listen?
    https://youtu.be/_ElORM9O-0U?si=Q236XKfYN2vtYCcP

And try listen to his voice!

  68. 68
    Karin Verndal says:

    @66

“but DC overdid it in the late 80s”
    – well, didn’t we all Uwe!? 😄😄

  69. 69
    Karin Verndal says:

    @65

Woah! That was some listening to I got me there…..!

And then I found another track “Would I lie to you” – and here I really am impressed with DC’s voice, but certainly also the band.

    I am won over 😄😃

  70. 70
    Max says:

@66 True. A pity it ruined his wonderful voice, so very much a gift of the gods to sing blues and soulful tunes. And btw: why would a lion want to sound like Mickey Mouse on helium and amphetamines? I never got it. But he tended to succumb to the flavour of the week. Silly? Maybe. At least it bought him a house near Lake Tahoe and one in Malibu. I’d prefer the way IG handled those things. Portugal and decent recordings would be good enough…

    Uwe Hornung says:

I think IG simply doesn’t find the US that tempting. He never chose to live there, even when he had to live outside the UK for tax reasons, he rather chose France. And I can imagine him so much better in Paris than in LA.

For DC and GH otoh the US was a blessing and a dream come true, they both became cultural West Coast Americans long ago. And Ritchie settled in the US too though he retains a European demeanor people on Long Island probably find exotic.

Interestingly, both David and Glenn stem from Northern England/the Midlands, maybe that saw them latch on so thoroughly to the American Way of Life.

Should we feel pride, guys? 🫣 Having turned a simple country girl from a decent home on the Danish East Coast into this preying, ravenous Whitesnake cougar now? Is that what we wanted? 😑

Reminds me of this song here …

You better start brushing up on your braille… ’cause Karin is going to claw your eyes out my friend. Probably spray you too. Yes, female cats do that too.

I like to live dangerously too and you’ve raised (or is that lowered?) the bar for that type of behavior. I’ll have to work on my technique in order to keep up with you.

    @68 🤣🤣🤣

Karin, Would I lie to You could fit on any Dan Baird album, couldn’t it.
There is a lot of really good stuff on.those early WS albums and as a singer DC was on top of his game. Having Jon Lord and Ian Paice in the band plus the 3 Ms sure did help to make the band special.

I know She’s so High but never saw the video. So I checked it out on the telly. Got me dreaming. My son couldn’t believe I like that song…😄

    🤣🤣🤣🤣

“Having turned a simple country girl”
    – a simple country girl! Oh thank you, I guess..

    “a decent home”
    – says who?!

    “Danish East Coast”
    – well, the East Coast of Jylland! When you say ‘Danish East Coast’ people think you mean Själland!

    “preying, ravenous Whitesnake cougar”
    – Yeah! You better watch out now 🤣🤣

Uwe, no need to worry about my moral habitus 😄😄
I am the same old boring bird as I was yesterday 👵🏼

But take a listen to this phenomenal song:

“Karin, Would I lie to You could fit on any Dan Baird album, couldn’t it”
    – ohh Max, you’re right! ☺️
I listened to it several times, and to be completely honest I did find it somehow familiar! But couldn’t put my finger on why it felt so much at ‘home’.

Did I tell you that Dan Baird is marrying his sweetheart in August, and the brave man has invited everyone who wants to go to (ohh man where does he live? Nashville?) his place (well not his house but where they are celebrating each other) and give good wishes to the happy couple.
I simply love he is doing this, marrying her I mean! The man is 70 yo but no way is he done seeking happiness 😍 gotta love that!
If I had the money and the time, I would love to go there and say ‘Cheers to you two’ 😃

“Having Jon Lord and Ian Paice in the band plus the 3 Ms sure did help to make the band special.”
    – they sure made Whitesnake sound really really good ☺️

“I know She’s so High but never saw the video. So I checked it out on the telly. Got me dreaming. My son couldn’t believe I like that song”
    – well Max, Tal is a cutie, but dreaming….? 😄

When I think of who the young man’s father is (actually he and I are almost at the same age so it is a bit of a dare devil statement to call him young, but he was young in the video) I really can hear some of his dad in his voice.

I saw a later video with Tal Bachman where he sings the same song, and actually hit the high notes perfectly still! I am impressed 😃

Ok Uwe, now I had the time to listen to the two links, that’ll be Dr Hook and David Bowie!

And I am still scratching my head in despair of what in the world do you mean?

Normally you call me a witch, and I’m semi-ok with that!
Or you call me a Viking, and of course that is ok too….
But what do you think of me with those, btw very good, songs?

I can tell from @73 that Russ probably won’t be of any help!

But you MacGregor? Any help please?

Or you Max? You being from the same country as Uwe, do you have any idea what kind of insults I’m receiving here?

I feel completely heartbroken and helpless and in distress 😱🥺😞

    ( nooooooo I don’t! I’m planning a very sweet revenge 😎)

    Yes, I certainly do!
And I guess Uwe is a lot, A LOT !!!, older than me, so maybe he doesn’t need to watch out…😄

    Uwe Hornung says:

Karin, both Queen of the Silver Dollar and Cat People are songs about once innocent women being led to the dark side by men, that was my angle.

Meanwhile, my research minions have been busy digging out an obscure BBC mini series with incredibly bad TV studio sets and cheap-ass TV studio lighting (in which English series of the 70s and 80s always seemed to excel!) starring Peter Egan, here you are:

    https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL152bjytsMC43L0egWMp83P1jY5b5lV9t&si=Y_M4JwU1T4DwaHL-

It was called The Dark Side Of The Sun and some shots were made on the Greek island of Rhodes:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Dark_Side_of_the_Sun_(TV_serial)

It’s about Knights Templar in modern times and stuff, a subject Herr MacGregor will likely appreciate too given his juvenile-escapist tendencies. Maybe you two can watch together?

I had already dutifully posted this info on Friday, but, alas!, Nick seems to have cruelly intercepted it (now that you have switched sides to DC he likely holds a grudge) and subsequently withheld it from you. Maybe we will have more luck this time?

Now to your part of the deal: Where do you wish to stage your public atonement for your past nasty comments regarding The King/Elvis & David Byron. Fall to your knees and repent if you please!

And no chickening out either, you know what happened to the princess when she didn’t stick to her promise with the frog!

    Karin Verndal says:

    @81

    Ohhh Uwe you found it!

Thank you so very very much 😃

I will however do my part, but please remind me of the sentence I should say…

The other day I heard such a fun joke about an old man who picked up a frog and put it in his pocket.
But it wasn’t an ordinary frog, you see it was a beautiful princess who was magically made to be a frog, and the poor princess asked the old man if he would kiss her, and she asked him several times, and promised there wasn’t anything she wouldn’t do if he just would kiss her.

Well, the old man stopped to tell her: in my age I will rather have a talking frog…🤣🤣🤣

But back to the subject: I can’t seem to remember the sentence…..

Btw: Peter Egan is one of my all time favourite actors.
Beside he is very very good, his voice is also very very nice!

  83. 83
    MacGregor says:

@81 – “It’s about Knights Templar in modern times and stuff, a subject Herr MacGregor will likely appreciate too given his juvenile-escapist tendencies. Maybe you two can watch together?” see Karin, you are not the only one who has to put up with Uwe. And here I was just about to thank Uwe for finding an interesting old school British tv series for me. I did take note of Karin mentioning this earlier. I was looking for something to watch as I just finished a Scottish series two days ago. I am familiar with (Egan and Mower) as actors from Callan (Edward Woodward), the British spy drama late 60’s to the early 70’s. Uwe, your link was recently posted, it didn’t have the first series in the proper order, if my memory serves me well. Maybe Nick is a member of the Knights Templar and he secretly deleted it from your computer and your cunning suspect eyes and mind. Thanks Karin for mentioning this, it looks good, halfway through the first episode. Secret handshakes all round eh? Cheers.

    MacGregor says:

Re; Peter Egan acting in A Perfect Spy tv series, mid 1980’s, not Callan. Cheers

    Uwe Hornung says:

You guys simply don’t know what you have in me, but being neglected is my middle name.

“But back to the subject: I can’t seem to remember the sentence …”

Thou shalt atone for your spitefully dismissive sins against Elvis and David Byron, woman!

Or listen for the coming week every morning to this here immediately after waking up:

    https://youtu.be/NTfZshkNZRw

And dance 💃🏻 to it! 😎

  86. 86
    MacGregor says:

Well I am disappointed with that tv series. I prefer something darker and deeper, if you know what I mean. Where are the horses, the swords, the dragons and the damsels in distress? What is it with the suits, the Mercedes Benz and all that socialising drinking tea and coffee. Where are the battles and the chivalry? Even the good ole Knights Templar have been watered down these days. Oh well, not to worry, even if this comment garners a response from Uwe, it will be worth it. Cheers.

  87. 87
    Karin Verndal says:

    @85

“You guys simply don’t know what you have in me, but being neglected is my middle name.”
    – 🤣🤣🤣🤣 ohhh we know Uwe, don’t we guys???!!!

Well if neglected indeed is your middle name, then I guess you do all in your might to never make any of us forget you 😃😄

“And dance 💃🏻 to it! 😎”
    – ok ok, I’ll dance like I was dancing on fire, but I don’t wanna record it and put it up on my YT channel!

And I am a bit miffed that you choose a brilliant number from Oasis and let it be ridiculed like that!
But I am nothing if not forgetting and forgiving!
But take a listen to this pearl of, well, wisdom:

    https://youtu.be/tI-5uv4wryI?si=5ct8lxGuKqSZ-vS0

And if you command me to record it, then I rather say this sentence I completely forgot (and I really did! Have a tremendous headache atm, so some guidance would be much appreciated!)

  88. 88
    Uwe Hornung says:

Probably a chick flick, Herr MacGregor, you know how they are …

  89. 89
    Karin Verndal says:

    @86

“Where are the battles and the chivalry?”

    – ohhh but MacGregor, there are indeed battles and chivalry! But I guess it’s the internal battles.

Luckily I am some sort of woman because I can indeed feel these internal and intense fights!

The character played by Peter Egan has this dangerous and mystical side, hard to describe, but I will confide with you gentlemen: it is VERY appealing 🥰
    Enough said about this subject!

    Uwe Hornung says:

That Mike Flowers Pops arrangement of Wonderwall is brilliant, Karin, and meticulous in its period faithfulness. A real work of art with a myriad tongue in cheek musical intricacies. Shame on you.

It was even in the UK Charts together with the original.
