Bob and Ray, and a Danish kennel
Paicey continues his Tales from the bar with a new batch of tall tales of one nascent band that eventually became known as Deep Purple.
And be sure to check out the overpriced merchandise™ for the Drumtribe channel. All proceeds are promised to go towards production of more videos.

Unauthorized copying, while sometimes necessary, is never as good as the real thing
Love the Tales from the Bar! I know the whole story in different versions but it’s great to get some details I have never heard before. Could listen to this for hours!

No mention of its place in rock history.
There is also the barn

And two cottages.
What’s really ironic about the history of Deep Purple is this: Paicey, Lord and Blackmore have all said at different times the idea of having a band called Roundabout and having other musicians come and go like getting on and off a roundabout is ridiculous and can never work. If you think about it Deep Purple is a roundabout. A 5 man band with 13 members, 14 if you count Satch. I think it does work if the music is great and it is. Long live Deep Purple!
November 22nd, 2020 at 14:43@Beatles Mastermind: True observation! No line up with Blackers lasted more than a few years. Morse has stabilized the band.
But I have always viewed line up changes within DP with goodwill. In their absence there would have been no In Rock, no Burn, no Come Taste The Band, no Slaves & Masters, no Purpendicular, no Bananas – and I treasure each one of those albums as a part of DP’s rich history.
November 22nd, 2020 at 18:09It may be that mr. Paice has forgotten more than he can remember, but what he does remember is everytime a joy to listen to. I can’t wait for the next episode. The book simply has to come.
November 22nd, 2020 at 21:51I saw Episode 6 and was expecting another nascent band that eventually became known as Deep Purple.
November 23rd, 2020 at 23:27Might as well change the name “Rainbow” to “Roundabout” then. At least Purple kept the same lineup for more than one album “MOST” of the time (CTTB / S&M being the exceptions).
November 24th, 2020 at 22:30The managers were Coletta, Edwards and Hire.
Why Paice won’t mention them, is beyond me.
Every DP fan know this.
