sao-paulo_carlos-coca_image.jpg

In the new installment of his Notes from the road Steve Morse talks about Mexican food, Hammond tuning, justifiable homicides, bureaucracy on the home front, the same abroad, and politics (or not).

Read all about it here.

Thanks to Daniel Bengtsson for the info.

About the political statement or should I say indifference….Bullshit Steve!!! I bet the general view in DP about the Kremlin gig must be “money don´t smell”!! I still support DP til the end, I´m just dissappointed about the lack of integrity within the band!

Don’t be so quick to pass judgment my friend – nor be so naive that because you happen to love DP or any other artist – that their opinions/judgments are in sync with yours.

Steve says, “As a group, we all agree that there should be no political message or endorsement of the band, expressed or implied.”

As it should be. Examination of the human condition? Yes. Artistic interpretation? Yes. But a Sinéad O’Connor-like “statement”–no. We’re talking about music–not a soap box rant.

I agree with Victor. Recording artists are like sausages. You don’t want to see sausages being made, and you don’t want to know too much about your hero’s politics.

It can ruin him for you.

It´s really very simple T! When it comes to rubbin´ shoulders with politicians, one have to in my opinion, be very careful! I don´t care if it´s Bush, Putin, Kim Il Sung or Bin Laden! To me it´s just a matter og principle and integrity, otherwise they might just be braindead bimbos and moneygrabbing ignorants!!

It does´nt take a Einstein to figure it out! With Steves statement it´s the old saying all over again….”Hear no evil,se no evil, speak no evil”….And for what ?….A shitload of money probably!! Don´t get me wrong, I wish them all the money in the world….just not dirty & probably bloody money! Can anyone imagine Iron Maiden playing a private gig for Maggie Thatcher??? Didn´t think so….They would probably tell to sod off and stick the money up her a***!!

Maybe I should tell you abouta quote I once read in a Dutch Musicmagazine…?
It was one from the early 70’s and had an Ian Gillan pic which he used years later ON Cherkazoo. Yep, the one with the guitar…..
In the article he is complaining about German activists(hippies?)who where rallying for FREE concerts….

Quite understandable he said : I ve been working for very little money before and now I should perform for FREE?!……

    I am a capitalist…..”

    THAT’s what he said.

Never think your heroes are idealistic like you would like them to be…..
