One night in Coburg

Simon McBride and a local music instruments retailer made the day for one lucky fan. This happened in Coburg on June 27, 2026.

Thanks to steve4422 for the heads-up.

    what a lucky boy!
Unless there was a specific reason we don’t know, I’d say his main fortune was that he was the youngest in the front row! Congratulations!

What a cute kid who got that guitar 🤩

I was wondering if Ian might give singing lessons?
    BTW: I sing horribly…..

    Uwe Hornung says:

I saw it live (it’s in my report on the gig to Thorsun in the “Devious”-thread), the kid was flabbergasted and overawed. Really cute.

That kid is gonna practice on that thing until his hands bleed. And he got himself a quality instrument to boot. PRS are a great company.

Fla76… that may be the reason, yes. My sons got drum sticks from IP that way…he reached down to hand them to them. One of them said later on ‘ I know he gave it to me cos I am still cute…’

    Uwe Hornung says:

Oh, so it was a “Nimmt der Kleine noch ‘ne Scheibe Wurst oder ist er dafür schon zu alt?“-moment at the Metzger! 🤗

    Thorsun says:

Thank you for the report Uwe! One of my comments was not accepted ‘cuz I screamed and yelled at you where is it!? I found it though and I’m grateful. And for Max for Closter W report, too. I hope to get hands on “Splat!” one day early can’t wait to get it.

@ Uwe, the day I stopped recieving Fleischwurst for free was the day everything else started to go downhill as well

    Uwe Hornung says:

Tilly, my sentiments exactly! For me things went irrevocably downhill when I stopped building 1:72 scale WW II model airplanes because I thought girls would find it uncool. So the last few Airfix, Revell and Matchbox sets remained unopened and unassembled.

I really should have stayed with my Republic P-47 Thunderbolts und Focke-Wulf Fw 190s (I had a thing for air-cooled radial engines) and continue reading wholesome stuff like Holt Hartmann vom Himmel! from the ominous Motorbuch Verlag!!!

The cruelties that fall into the responsibility of wimmin are unspeakable to tell.

    Thomas says:

Fun fact: Roland Kaiser the day before and Roxette the day after were without seating 😉

  10. 10
    Uwe Hornung says:

Thomas, but people here don’t even know who Roland Kaiser is!

    Now they do.

But Genosse Roland is a card-carrying Sozialdemokrat (I can hear Max hissing!), the hell I’m gonna say anything negative about him then. He sold the darn place out.

So now, for the next many concerts, parents and grandparents are going to drag their little ones along and push their way to the front row in the hope of getting a guitar?

    Max says:

But Uwe…nothing wrong with a good old proud Genosse! Not sure though he’d approve on everything they came up with since Schmidt put out his last ciggi. Or…as Curd Jürgens said: A scocalist in a Rolls Royce is better than a fascist in a tank.

    Uwe Hornung says:

Have you ever been to a Springsteen gig and seen how parents hold their kids – even babies – out to him because he has the habit of kissing them or taking them up on stage? It’s actually quite cute.

I mean he’s not Bill Wyman where you might have second thoughts as a parent about letting your 12-year-old daughter with him on stage, just sayin’ … 😎

Plus …theres a thread on the 23rd March that you haven’t had the last post on …you’d better go back and correct that ! 🤣🤣🤣

    MacGregor says:

@13- The Messiah eh? Is that what you are suggesting Uwe? The media tabloid evangilistic ‘celebrity’ status continues. Is Springsteen the guy that you said you would fall asleep to at a three hour ‘concert’, or should that be a ‘gathering’? An anointment even. This is classic Netflix in a pod shell. Someone get to it now, please, we NEED this sort of thing in today’s world, more than ever. Cheers.

    Uwe Hornung says:

Herr MacGregor, does the fact that I find Bruce Springsteen concerts too long, that there is something messianic to his gigs, yet at the same time rate some of his music and lyrics as modern American cultural classics and think that he is personally more than a decent person as somehow incompatible?

    Uwe Hornung says:

I’m actually seeing Priest later in the summer, Steve! While Priest’s improvisation is close to nil, they always shake up their set list pretty much from tour to tour.

A thread were I haven’t had the last word? Probably an oversight. Or it must have been a boring one – some of them are, mostly those without your cherished involvement!

    Steve says:

Excellent reply Uwe ….so , you Germans really are developing a sense of humour and banter …wonders will never cease ….maybe the new Purple album will be a killer !?

    Hang on ….it is !

I’m off for my second listen 🎶

    Uwe Hornung says:

German humor is no laughing matter, we work hard at it.

    @ 17,18,19

What I find very joyous is when Uwe asks questions, and later on answers them himself 😄

Well, no kidding, I have learned a lot from reading in here, from all of you 😊
