That’s the route she chose
Apparently a new single Diablo from the upcoming new album Splat! was released on May 5, 2026, without much fanfare. But probably because of the general enshittification of the web, it’s not available everywhere. So we’re posting two different copies in the hope that you can access at least one of them.
Thanks to Fla76 for the heads-up.

Unauthorized copying, while sometimes necessary, is never as good as the real thing
My Grandma always told me if you haven’t got anything good to say about something then keep your mouth shut so I am saying nothing, nothing at all.

Peace ✌️
I love this tune!
Deep Purple, alive and kicking 🤩💜🙏🏼
June 5th, 2026 at 15:29I like it. Another riffy piece from this era of Purple. Don’t get me wrong, Don was the perfect replacement for our beloved Jon, but I often feel that he plays too many notes during his solos, as if he’s attempting to cram in as much as possible. Jon could indeed be flashy but I always felt he very much played for the song rather than going for the keyboard histrionics. I’ll no doubt get slaughtered for criticising Don (although it really is only an observation), which wasn’t my intention as he seems a lovely chap.
In addition, I wish they’d (including Bob Ezrin) allow Paicey to play without a click track. Ian has always hated them and it definitely limits his creativity behind the kit as he’s concentrating on that damn click instead of doing what he does best. His timing has always been exceptional so I don’t think a click is necessary. There is always a sense of push and pull within a band, especially live. Just give the man the freedom to express himself more.

June 5th, 2026 at 15:42Oh yes! It’s only simple Good Hard Rock, which is what I’ve always wanted!! And not those brainless musical constructions of the recent mixed prog past!!

Oh my, this won’t become an international hit, but everything else feels comfy like an old pair of beloved shoes! A real Purple romp – with no chorus either (why follow silly fashion trends now? 😂) and a middle eight nodding at the chorus of Super Trouper (@00:25),

just lovely. The duel between Don and the Irish kid is great and lively too. Finally, I like how it ends so abruptly, some real swagger there, wham bam thank you M’am!
Sehr schön. I dig Simon’s tone, very natural.
A concise statement that DP are alive and well, ready to raise some hell. (Ok, admittedly I’ve had better rhymes. 🙄)

June 5th, 2026 at 15:52I agree. Jon Lord had more feeling. Not that I don’t like Don, but his solos like this, up and down, never really drove me crazy.
