Theoretically possible, but hasn’t happened yet

Some time ago (posted March 5, 2026) Steve Morse spoke to a gentleman called Jordi Pinyol. Steve talks about his writing process, work ethics, reminisces about rubbing shoulders with the likes of Pat Metheny and Narada Michael Walden, surfing with Jaco Pastorius, and how being in Kansas was different from being in Deep Purple.

Thanks to BraveWords for the heads-up.

Oh, a man interviewing Steve – and I thought he only had female fans, no? 😎

I’m happy to see him so upbeat, he deserves it. Incidentally Beate, has he started dating again? 🥰

I totally agree with him, there are definitely too few bass melodies in contemporary music.

No mention of Narada Michael Walden please without a cross reference to Tommy B!

Night Ranger are – in Europe at least – undeservedly unsung AOR heroes. I love that band.

Thanks for the Steve Morse interview. True indeed what Steve says about the theory of everything being ‘perfect’ but that isn’t how it all works out. As Neil Peart once said, ‘you don’t ever play the perfect gig, if you did, you wouldn’t have anything else to aim for anymore’. Trying to perform to one’s best each night is what musicians do or hope to do, performing to the highest level possible on the day and enjoying it, is what it all should be about. Cheers.

Where is Beate when you need her? Listen here, new music from your favorite muscle-shirted, widowed Floridian hay farmer: Temple of the Morse …

It’s cute how Steve pays homage to Ritchie without aping him and in the solo part even splits into an acoustic and electric twin Ritchie dueling himself! 😂

It only dawns on me now, but some of the stuff I attributed to Steve might actually be his also featured son Kevin who has this neo-classical slant in his playing! All the more for Beate to celebrate, this is then the happy musical communion of family members (albeit with a questionable dress sense, akin to —> The Kelly Family …
